Help Stripped transmission mount

I was putting my rebuilt transmission in and in the process of getting the exhaust hanger bracket and transmission mount lined up I stripped out the threads that go into the aluminum transmission. ...

Re: How do I flush the tranny cooler?

I was picturing maybe attaching a hose to one side of the open lines and pouring fresh fluid into a funnel raised up high. Not sure if that would be enough pressure to move the old stuff out. I...

How do I flush the tranny cooler?

I pulled my automatic transmission (4R44E) and its at the shop being rebuilt. The transmission fluid was pretty nasty. I would like like to flush out the transmission lines and cooler before...

Re: exhaust manifold gasket replacement

The only way I know to locate an exhaust leak is to just get in there and start looking. What magic bullet are your asking for? And no, I haven't worked on a Duratech engine, but I haven't taken...

Re: 01 2.3L stumbles when on load

You can perform resistance checks with a multimeter to identify some failures, but I've seen several times where the issue didn't present itself until under load. It could be cracked and arcing...

Re: O2 sensor check engine code

I'm not that familiar with your year, but I'll share my thoughts.

Do you have good heat? Your temperature sensor isn't talking to the ECU correctly and probably isn't adjusting fuel correctly for...

Re: Lower radiator leak

It would seem logical that your leak is somewhere near the work you just performed with the thermostat housing or top hose. I'm sure you'll have better luck with daylight. Good luck.

Re: 2.5L intake questions

Wow, 29 mpg is amazing! Best mine ever does is 24 pure highway. Fresh head and complete tuneup, no modifications. Mine seems pretty typical, average power, nothing special. Nice job Steve!

Re: My 4 in a row, barely wants to go!

Good start on the signature. Rookies are fine and welcome! It's why most of us are here, either looking for help or offering advice to those that need it.

The problem is forum members who spout...

Re: Miss firing??

I assume you verified the spark plug gap. It's usually right on, but you never know unless you check. What brand of plug did you use?

Possibly you didn't get a plug wire back on correctly, or...

Re: My 4 in a row, barely wants to go!

Welcome to the forums. I see nothing in your post to indicate you've done anything resembling a tune-up. Get yourself a repair manual and read the forums. There is plenty of good info here if you...

One of the dumbest threads I've read in awhile and the OP isn't even engaged.

Re: Problem solved

If the temperature sender was bad, the engine would run worse after warming up. Guessing that was a contributor to your issue. Glad it's fixed, good job!

Re: 15 mpg in my Ranger

At least 25 plus huh. I would have thought with 4,000+ posts you'd have a more educated response. How many people here with a 18-year-old 2.3L get 25+ MPG? I'm guessing most get less.

Re: Temp gauge problem

Randy, your truck should have two different temperature sensors. One for the computer and one for the dash gauge. Are you sure you changed the right one?

Also, does anyone here know a test...

Location of Power Steering Pressure Switch?

Where is the power-steering pressure-switch located at? I remember seeing it when I disconnected the power-steering pump my 2000 Ranger 2.5L, but now that it's all back together all I can see is the...

Re: P0402 and rough idle

I stand corrected. It really depends on what the code is. If it's a failed heater code, then the sensor is bad, if it's an out of parameter code, then it's something upstream causing the problem,...

Re: 2000 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder Runs Rough at 50 MPH

Wesley, invest in a code scanner, unless you prefer changing out random expensive parts hoping eventually you'll change the right one. Last time I'll suggest it. If you have access to an Android...

Re: P0402 and rough idle

Daniel is correct, EGR testing procedures prove this out. 2nd, it depends which O2 sensor is throwing the code. The front sensor feeds back to the ECU and controls engine parameters to effect...

Re: Timing Belt Question

Agreed, if (correct) marks are lined up it's in time, no two ways about it. Pop out the two inspection hole plugs, rotate crankshaft to zero TDC and check diamond-to-diamond on cam shaft and...

Re: 01 2.3L stumbles when on load

Glad you got most of it sorted Dave, good work! With the current price of gas, you should recoup costs quickly and may also avoid future problems with a plugged CAT. Thanks for updating us.
