Re: 4.0 SOHC fan clutch removal

I put a new aftermarket one on my 03 (standard right hand thread) and it stays engaged for a while after startup. I don't think the oem clutches do that but they cost more. I've worked on a 2008 and...

Re: Intake manifold missing hose

The hose on 2 goes on port 1. Port 2 should have a short 90 degree hose that connects several 1/8" plastic lines.

Re: Intake manifold missing hose

The only other vacuum port on the drivers side is right behind the throttle body and egr boss. It connects to an emissions part under the antilock brake control right behind the battery. Could you...

Re: Intake manifold missing hose

The one at the rear is for the brake booster. The one in the middle on the driver side is the main vacuum port that several things branch off of.

Re: AC Compressor

There is no sensor, just low and high pressure switches. Find your leak.

Re: oil seap/leak from harmonic balancer shaft?

The seal is in the front cover... the balancer slides through it. Buy a cheap seal puller at any auto parts store. Be sure to oil the lip of the seal before installing the balancer.

Re: oil seap/leak from harmonic balancer shaft?

The harmonic balancer is on the front end of the crankshaft. I've never seen a pulley leak oil. If the front seal is leaking, pull the balancer and put a new seal in. It's a very easy repair.

Re: Front Engine Repair

Buy an all aluminum T housing on ebay. It cost more but you'll never have that problem again. The plastic ones are unreliable.

Re: Pinion shaft lock-bolt

The 8.8 doesn't have a "pumpkin"(third member) it has a differential cover. Give the bolt a solid smack on the head with a big hammer then tighten it slightly before loosening.

Re: 01 ford ranger with bad engine

You're just going to have the same problem with the older engines.
Ford worked the bugs out in newer models.
The new engine sensors and wiring must match what came in your truck... but any 4.0 sohc...

Re: best way to assemble top end?

The second method. Set the heads in place, add gaskets and lower intake, torque the lower intake and heads. They're trying to prevent a leak or gasket failure at the lower intake.

Re: 01 ford ranger with bad engine

Buy a newer engine from anything that came with a 4.0sohc. Use the 2001 injectors, fuel rails, valve covers and wiring harness. Shop around and get the lowest miles for the lowest price. I recommend...

Re: Replacing LH valve cover and gasket

It's so simple, just take it off and stick the new one on. They don't use a gasket, they have an o-ring that stays in place and is reusable. If you buy a new valve cover the o-ring comes installed....

Re: Check fuel cap light

NEVER let an oil change place do anything but change the oil. It's best to change your own oil and it's quick and simple with a Fumoto drain valve and the proper motorcraft filter socket.
