Mine did the same thing and it was the EGR valve. Also could be the IAC, Idle Air Control.

no power is going to the blue/black wire at the switches. I ran power to it from the power mirror and now it works. Will have to do for now. Its old truck and dont want to spend money on it.

does anyone know which relay controls the power windows in a 96 Ranger, 4.0 , 5 Speed.

I see 8 relays under the dash next to the steering column so I am guessing one of those is for power windows?

1: bad sending unit in tank (maybe attached to fuel pump)
2: Bad Wire somewhere...

only one fuse points to power windows, locks. Locks work, fuse is good (under hood) I am assuming if the one switch went bad, the others would still work? Nothing works at all on all window switches.
