Re: I want it gone... :(
Thanks for the advice and thoughts. I'm bringing it back in on Monday and hope to do some negotiating. We'll see what they think. Otherwise I'll let them fix it-for good hopefully-and either...

No, the oil isn't coming from here.

No it had 87,000 miles on it. It was from a dealer though. They shouldn't be selling shit piles to customers.
Are there smaller bunches and therefor more bad ones with Ford?

From what I can tell, it doesn't seem intentional.

Re: I want it gone... :(
My family has owned many GMC's, many honda's, a couple Fords, and a few Toyotas. The Hondas and Toyotas only ever needed regular maintenance (timing belt when due, brakes, oil, etc). EVERY single one...

Re: I want it gone... :(
Yeah, I tightened it myself and double checked today. There's no fresh oil around it, either.
I'm thinking of asking them to take it back as a trade. I'd like to get private party value for it...

I want it gone... :(
So I bought my ranger for 10,500 in either August or September of 2012.
-1 week after I bought it: Alternator died
-3 weeks after: oil leak from near oil pan/RMS (they replaced oil pan gasket)...

The trick is tapping a 2" block to your toe so you can hit both pedals.

I certainly wouldn't do it if it was my only/daily driver. If it's a toy, and you can afford it, sure.

Re: Mudding Advice
Wrench all you want. A wrench isn't going to pay for part that you snap or destroy. If you're breaking things frequently then you probably don't know where the limit is and continuously surpass it.

Re: Ranger End of Life?
This is just irresponsible. If it was something stupid that didn't effect the safety of others on the road (third brake light out, window off its track, exhaust leak), then sure by all means do it....

Re: oil leak underneath, but clean up top
Could be cam shaft plug/seal. It's in the same spot though, so it may as well be your rear main seal. Tell the dealer to fix it. It was their screw up.

Are we sure that this is for 08+ as well though. I looked into it at one point and determined that it would be more trouble than it was worth.
