a motor needs fuel,air and spark. You need to figure out which one is failing and go from there. when you have the no start condition thats when i would check the spark.

when you bench bled it did you pull the line to the tranny and bleed it with the master cylinder. also when you install it back in the truck you should let some fluid flow thru the slave cylinder...

shift forks usually get bent power shifting, if you don't have a shifter with stops on it you can force the shifter farther than it should go, and somthing has to give which is usually the shift...
