Re: 2000 3.0l 4r44e shifting problem

How much mileage do you have on your truck? And, what codes is the computer popping out? Also, do you know what transmission your vehicle has?

Re: Tranny codes, need some help

If you drop your pan, the TCC Solenoid is the one that should be farthest to your left on the passenger side of the valve body. It should have a retaining clip and sliver bolt (6mm) that holds it in...

Re: No Drive or Reverse

See if you have any codes. Try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it after about 2 mins to reset the PCM. If you are pulling codes, what are they?

Re: 4.0 sohc turning but not starting after overheating

What issues are you expecting to face? Did you lose a lot of coolant or all of it? How long did your vehicle overheat for? What is the color and consistency of your oil and coolant (if there is any...

Re: 4.0 sohc turning but not starting after overheating

If your engine cranks and/or you can turn it manually, then most likely, your PCM is in safe mode. Disconnect your battery leads, wait about two mins., hook everything back up and see if your truck...

Re: Valve BODY

Central's great. You won't be disappointed. Donny does good work and guarantees his work for one year, I believe.

Re: leaking trans fluid between tail housing and transfer case

Go in and replace the gasket. Nine bolts total (5 t-case to trans & 4 yoke to driveshaft). The gasket is about 6 bucks or so at the dealership. Don't let them tell you any different!

Re: 4r44e transmission, no fwd or reverse

John, unless you have massive amounts of graphite in your transmission fluid and/or broken pieces of metal in the pan (broken spacers or bands), I think the problem can be narrowed down to either the...

Re: White smoke coming out exhaust

Check out Zach's how-to regarding head replacement on a 4.0 OHV engine. That would probably explain quite a bit regarding the process. If you have coolant coming out of the exhaust system, you...

Re: 4r44e transmission, no fwd or reverse

Did you have any codes pop up before you dropped the pan? My thinking is that you your EPC and shift solenoids are clogged or failed. My advice, since you have the VB out, I'd contact Donny Lester...

Re: Wont hardly move in first or reverse

Based on what you've written, I'd probably move forward and drop the pan/drain the fluid. I'd also want to drop the filter and do an inspection on the valve body; maybe even pull that and check the...

Re: 4r44e transmission, no fwd or reverse

What is the color and condition of the ATF? I would probably drop the pan and the filter. Depending on the condition of the fluid and what you find in the filter and the pan, then I'd move forward...

Re: Torque converter wont lock up

What was the condition of the trans that you dropped in; 5r44e I'm assuming? Did you replace your old torque converter with a new one, was it the one from the newer trans or did you use the one from...

Re: Tranny codes

Sounds like you have a shift flare, which can be caused by a failing valve body gasket. My advice would be to pull the valve body, replace the gasket and separator plate and replace all of your...

Re: Rear yoke seal replacment

You might want to pull the diff cover and check your contact pattern and pinion depth (which means that you may have to pull the carrier). Check backlash before you do this. I would also get a...

Re: New Front Driveshaft

You'd have to change the flange on the t-case. You could convert to a superlift dual cardan shaft, but that will cost in excess of $300. Just look for another bud-style driveshaft out of an explorer...

Re: truck won't fire up after bad overheating incident

Have you tried to manually turn the engine at the crank? What does the oil look like? Disconnect your battery and reset your electrical system if you haven't already. PCM may have gone into safe mode...

Re: New Front Driveshaft

I wouldn't spend $300+ on a bud-style driveshaft. They were/are considered to be flawed due to the fact that drive angle, under full suspension droop resulted in binding. And, once your boot fails,...

Re: New Front Driveshaft

Where are you (in the U.S.)? I have a bud-style driveshaft w/less than 25k on it sitting on my garage floor that you could have for $40+ the shipping it would take to get to you. In total, you're...

Re: new pinion flange

If you go to your local junkyard or look on craigslist, I think you'll probably be able to locate an 8.8 axle to replace your 7.5. Should be a direct bolt in.

Hey Fred,

Was poking around and found this for ya:

If the rear end is still in this thing, it's a 31 spline w/Torsen LSD. You should get...

Re: new pinion flange

The pinion seal job is a pretty involved one. If you disregard the turning torque specs, unload the crush sleeve and overtorque the pinion nut when you replace it, you'll not only change your pinion...
