If you are going to paint it yourself. Soak it with some kind of a penetrating agent such as BP Blaster (and I mean soak it). Prime and paint when it's fully soak. I have done this on a few car...

From the few questions I have gotten: 1 bottle is enough to do your bumper valance, and all trim on your truck with 2 coats.... if you need more coats buy 2 bottles just to be safe.

Cut a 1" wooden dowel in half and wrapped the handle:

I was thinking the same thing today, they are 1/2", but I know i'm going to need to pick up a 3/4" bit and drill them out bigger... because the way I have them drilled out now, after measuring 3/4"...
