Do a compression test across all 6 cylinders (I know, what a fun afternoon that's gonna be..) After that..if you can..do a leak-down test. That low #5 makes my inner-greasemonkey worry a tad..

Weird thing, but I had the same problem, an intermittent misfire on #6.
It turned out to be my PCV valve, where the hose attached at the upper intake manifold.
Fixed that, and the truck runs like a...

If Ford brings the Ranger back, people will either buy it, or they won't.
