at 150k these engines are just getting broken in
if the previous owner put sealer in 20k miles ago, it means he didn't take care of the truck and something...

the coil pack you'll be modding can be totally un-plugged and the truck would still run just fine

it should work fine.
I did the same but opposite to my 87 ( 2.0 block with 2.3 mustang head)
Bolted on without issues.
