Re: Brake lines and fittings

That's most of them. My '97 needed qty.7 = SAE 3/8"-24, INV flare, plus qty.3 = SAE 7/16"-24, INV flare, plus 2 metric bubble fittings on the master cylinder. Not sure what fittings attach to...

Re: Mach 300 Ford Radio

The Ranger uses Ford 'World' connector (the red one). But the Escape & Mach 300 uses the newer Phase II connector. You'll need an adapter cable or else cut off the Ranger's dash connector &...

Re: impact gun for suspension work

A long cheater bar & extension pipe is sometimes more effective than my impact wrench. If there's enuff room to manoeuver? For rear suspension, I cut off the heads with an angle grinder &...

Have you tried removing the fender skirt liner to see? Mine were accessible from there, as seen in my A/C repair photos https://imgur.com/gallery/xMUKH

Try Craigslist for folks who are parting out their Rangers.

Re: Cargo Lights

On my '97, the cargo lights are activated by turning the dimmer switch up to the extreme high position, past the "click" detente position.

Re: flashing 4x4 light

Did you verify that the shift motor actually turns when your switch tries to activate it? If so, it might isolate your problem as electrical vs maybe your transfer case?

Re: So hard to Truck pass smog

It could also be due to lots of other causes. O2 sensors, EGR valve & tubes, MAF sensor, and so on. Is your CEL on? Any problem codes?

Re: please help - LOUD rumbling/scraping noise coming from front end

Normal turning. That's enough to cause it. Depends how worn your bearings are. The splines grind against each other (ie, axle-shaft splines against hub splines) cuz the flexed axle-shaft goes...

Re: please help - LOUD rumbling/scraping noise coming from front end

It could be the TELL-TALE on his brake pad itself that's grinding (by design), to tell him that his front brake pads are almost gone. Here's a photo of the little TELL-TALE on a Ranger brake pad:...

Re: Rear Leaf Spring replacement

The bolt diameter matters. Don't get overly fussy about the exact length. An inch +/- won't amount to a hill of beans, cuz your rear shackles will flex a lot more than that when going over bumps....

Re: please help - LOUD rumbling/scraping noise coming from front end

That grinding noise while turning is most likely because the wheel bearings are worn or loose. Turning causes the short axle-shaft to bend, and the worn bearings no longer hold it in the exact...

Re: Need an airintake manifold

Check out your local Craigslist for "Auto Parts" sold "By Owner". There are often Rangers being parted out. You just need to figure out whether it fits yours, whatever engine you happen to have. ...

Re: Ranger idle problem?

Mine did that too. It would stall in cold weather, not so much in warmer weather. The p0171/p0174 means you have an air leak somewhere. Find that leak! Mine leaked mostly at the upper intake...

Look here for clues:

Re: Fixing Ranger sag with short add a leaf

I upgraded to heavy-duty spring packs instead of AAL. So glad I did. Also, the heavier payload it gave has paid off, for me. The slightly higher stance in rear has not diminished, which is nice....

Re: Fuel filler neck replacing/stripped bed bolt

^^^ x5
JB Weld will soon fall off the flexing rubber, and pieces will fall INSIDE your fuel tank. Then you'll have to fish 'em out. You're making more work. Just do the job right, or not at...

Re: Spongy Brakes Bled Already, maybe incorrectly?

Yes, bleed each one until you get no bubbles at all. Be careful that your MC fluid level remains topped up the whole time, not low and letting in air.

A possible (rookie) mistake is to remove...

Re: Is This Ranger a good deal?

Clean truck inside! I would stay at $1500. You're gonna have to sink another $1K too. Craigslist often has more Rangers for sale. 1993 predates OBD2 and ABS brakes. Got airbags?

A '93...

Re: Fuel filler neck replacing/stripped bed bolt

Yes, it's that simple. A 4x4 also has a skid-plate (4 bolts) too. The tank itself is held by 2 straps (so 2 bolts total). The fuel pump stays inside the tank, so just unplug the fuel pump...
