Re: Oil pressure gauge/Cam position sensor code seem linked

Did you change the whole assembly or just the sensor at the top? I think the shaft also turns the oil pump. It may be skipping and not pumping oil!

Re: 3.0 Noisy Under Acceleration

I thought i'd post a follow-up. Eventually i found that the tube between the intake and the valve cover was unconnected at the intake. I reconnected it and the engine sounds better now. Could be...

Re: Fuel filter change help

On my 99, i released the pressure by disconnecting the inertia switch under the right side of the glove compartment while the engine was running, BUT you should do it with a COLD engine. My engine...

Re: Oil Type Question

Our emmisions test here in CT is based only on the OBDII, but i have not seen smoke. I have replaced the CAT once. Lots of subarus burn oil, Subaru will only take waranty action if its more than a...

Re: Oil Type Question

This is getting pretty far off topic, but mine is not the onlynsubaru that burns oil. This one uses about 24 oz. Per 1000 miles, so many are worse. Its been doing this consistently for the last...

Re: Oil Type Question

Interesting. I have a subaru that burns IMO a lot of oil. I have been running mobil 1, but just a few days ago put in penzoil synthetic to see if it burned any less. I presume it wont make any...

3.0 Noisy Under Acceleration

About a year and a half ago, I replaced the stock muffler with a Walker part due to the bracket braking off of the OEM one. Coincidentally, soon after that I had the truck in to a mechanic to do...

Re: Fender/Door Rubber Insulator Pad

I ran into the same situation, could NOT for the life of me figure out how to stick it back in there. I believe I tossed it in the trash. Must be sound proofing.

Re: Timing help

Please let us know what you figure out. I had the same thing done on mine, and it hasn't been the same since. Runs ok, but doesn't sound right!

Re: 3.0 running condition help

Interesting. I have a '99, 3.0, 2wd. It pretty much runs, no issue getting up to speed, but it doesn't "sound right" under load. I have not been able to determine that it is misfiring, no check...

Re: Scratching noise under load

Actually, spent tonight working on my daughter's subaru, which has a caliper sticking. I need to spend a few minutes under the truck and see if I can find anything loose or rubbing somewhere. I...

Re: Scratching noise under load

Air leak, I had not considered that. The truck otherwise is running reasonably well. About a year ago, I had a mechanic reseal the engine. He removed the engine and did the oil pump, oil pan,...

Scratching noise under load

I've got a 99 3.0l 2wd automatic, 188k miles. I'm getting a noise like scratching or scraping under load, like accelerating up an on ramp to a highway or climbing a steep hill. I am fretting...

1999 Phantom Wipers

I've got a fairly common problem I guess, my windshield wipers run once in a while while off, frequently in conjunction with switching the actual turn signal on or off, i.e. when the arm moves/is...

Re: bed bolts on a 99 in CT = RUST

Got under there today and wire brushed and sprayed the bolts I could with PB Blaster. I don't know whose idea it was to bury one bolt between the gas tank, frame, and wiring. Can barely see that...

Re: fuel

Is it supposed to be a flexfuel engine? Mine has the flexfuel emblem on it. If so, you technically could. It's not a new truck, has it been run regularly on E85? If not, I would be concerned that...

Re: bed bolts on a 99 in CT = RUST

I am not planning to use an impact wrench, just figured impact rated torx bit would be less likely to break on me. Snapped bolts is probably one of the best cases, mine look nice on top because of...

bed bolts on a 99 in CT = RUST

Hi All,
I'm going to try to remove the bed on my '99, and here in CT, the bolts are RUSTY, so I need encouragement or discouragement, one or the other.

I'm assuming these will not spin out. ...

Re: Sony XAV-AX100 in a 99

The Sony looks nice, and the volume knob is great. It comes with a remote that I haven't even tried. If it's useful, it would be cool to have it mounted somewhere reachable. My interior dash...

Re: Sony XAV-AX100 in a 99

Hi steezy,
I am relatively happy with the radio given my budget limitations. If you are willing to spend a bit more, there may be better options.

The sound quality is a bit off, if I...

Re: Need help with new Firestone tires

SOLVED!

At least I think so. Today I went back to the Firestone Service Center, and the manager, who was unbelievably accommodating, hooked me up with his Tire Whisperer. They allowed me to...

Re: Need help with new Firestone tires

Thanks. I did check for run out, and I didn't see much. Granted I did not have a gauge to actually measure it, so maybe I didn't check well enough.

Re: Need help with new Firestone tires

Update... not very helpful so far.

The truck spent today at a Firestone service center where Firestone customer service referred me for a "free tire inspection". I'm not sure what that was...
