I've got an 02 2.3l manual 2wd. The motor's bad in it, I'm looking at either rebuilding it, or having to replace it....

yea it's burn out, I wouldn't even know how to go about rigging this to even work. I think it'll just be easier to replace it, does anyone know how often they go out?

Go to junk yard and pick up a spare motor and tranny to rebuild, then slap em in there when they're needed, then rebuild original drivetrain and just keep the truck running indefinitely. lol
