Re: Minnesota II

Nice bike there Glenn....I won't tell anyone ;)

I've been working on a $400 bike myself lately - '81 CB650 Custom. It's got many issues but they're going away one by one. Took the carbs apart and...

Re: Minnesota II

Lol Glenn I think you and I are on the same page in this debate. Selling a truck because it needs a fuel pump or an alternator is a head-scratcher for me. Maybe it's just my poverty showing but I...

Re: Minnesota II

Yeah my check engine light is gone once I put the new vacuum reservoir in. It runs a little smoother too. I'm going to be doing a few more things to try and smooth out the idle a bit...plugs, fuel...

Re: Minnesota II

Well I finished truck camper v2.0 today! The first one in the Ranger was an unqualified success, so I am doing round 2 in the 150. More room to sit up in this one and more width for 2 people.

For...

Re: Minnesota II

I called Elk River Ford since they're the closest to me. Doesn't really matter, I found a reservoir yesterday at the junkyard. I'm going to another location today to see if I can find another one...

Re: Minnesota II

My vacuum reservoir came in at the Ford dealer....I had a co-worker stop by there and pick it up for me, but they ordered the wrong part for crying out loud. It looks like the vacuum reservoir off...

Re: Minnesota II

I didn't do the fuel filter but it's on the list of next steps. Like I said, I don't think the truck has had any real maintenance love in quite a while....it was for sale for quite a bit of time and...

Re: Minnesota II

I for one actually like rainy weather now and again...

But it did impact my workload this week, which sucks. I won't even crack overtime unless I put in a long one tomorrow.

At least it gave me...

Re: Minnesota II

Well, tomorrow is hopefully the big day for the exhaust manifold install....I'm damned nervous about snapping off studs in the engine block but what can you do. Has to be done.

I'm going to do it...

Re: Minnesota II

Yeah I'd check the ball joints for sure and the sway bar bushings. Right before my lower balljoint blew out on the Town Car it started making a front end creak.

Re: Minnesota II

Made up my mind about the truck....going to put a new exhaust manifold and EGR tube in on the driver's side. Then if that doesn't clear up my EGR flow problem I'm taking the truck in to Slim's auto...

Re: Minnesota II

Yep I know the EGR shouldn't open at idle, the thing I was wondering is whether the supply line to the EGR solenoid should show any vacuum at idle. You would think that the solenoid would be supplied...

Re: Minnesota II

It's gearing up to start here as well, should be awesome. I love rainy nights.

No love from anyone on my EGR issue? The guys on F150 forums seem very disinterested in helping...

Re: Minnesota II

Rather than type it all out again here's the post I put on ford-trucks:

A week ago I bought a 98 F150 4x4 with the 4.6. I'm a lifelong Ford owner and this is my 3rd vehicle with the 4.6 engine. My...

Re: Minnesota II

If any of my fellow MN peeps know more than me about Ford EGR systems, let me know....I'm reaching the end of my rope with the new truck and its constant EGR/idle problem. I've thrown like 250 bucks...

Re: Minnesota II

Well folks I thought I would return for an update....it has been quite some time.

First off, the Ranger went bye bye a few months ago. After I nursed it through our horrendous winter and came out...

Re: Minnesota II

I just always seem to find myself under the hood...

Turned out I didn't really need to replace the plugs, they looked pretty decent. But after I replaced both coil packs the other day, it just...

Re: Minnesota II

Spent most of the day in the garage....

Put all new spark plugs in the Towncar - Autolite double platinums, same as I use in the Ranger. Then on the Ranger I changed the power steering fluid,...

Wow, thanks Charlie! I might have to give that guy a call once I start working on it. Looks like he's got quite a selection there. I've been looking up what parts cost for these things and it's...

Gonna do some more work on the lincoln today....going to put in new coil packs and a full set of new spark plugs. It's misfiring on one cylinder and I decided it's time to get all this done. (If I...

Re: Minnesota

I had one but I sold it when I got the tool box. I thought to myself "there's no way I'll ever want to get rid of this toolbox." Woops.
