Re: Explorer vs Ranger rear leafs

I’ve been running leaf springs from a 4 door expo for a few years now. They are stiffer than any of the stock ranger spring options (there were three of them). I don’t know what their is exact...

Re: Front gear ratio change

BTF’s kit is $2,800 ish, but you supply the coilovers and shock hoops.

8” of movement at the coilover is 14” of movement at the wheel, which is a ton of travel.

It’s up to you, but I...

Re: RC 5in lift

Pre 2003, 4wd Rangers has 11.25” rotors. Mid 2003, Ford switched to 12” rotors on the 4wds

I haven’t looked into the rough country kit too closely, but judging by your question, it sounds like...

Re: Full width axles 99 Ranger

The TTB is a different animal all together from the d35 SLA.

None of the required brackets on the frame side (pivot brackets, radius arm brackets, coil buckets, etc.) were carried over to the...

Re: 2005 Ranger torsion bar lift/clunk

Ahhh.

3” is too much adjustment on stock suspension. I bet if you look at your upper control arms they are very close to hitting the frame.

Be sure to get it aligned after you adjust the...

Re: 2005 Ranger torsion bar lift/clunk

Yes. The more you back them off the softer the ride will be. How much “lift” did you get out of them?

This is assuming the truck didn’t do this before the aftermarket keys were installed.

Re: 2005 Ranger torsion bar lift/clunk

The problem is in the question. “Torsion key lift”.

Did you crank the stock torsion keys or buy aftermarket “lift” keys?

Adjusting the torsion bars adds more pre-load to the suspension,...

Re: Front gear ratio change

Locker options for the d35 SLA are pretty limited. Aussie makes a “lunchbox” style auto locker for it. I believe lokka makes one as well. The issue with a front locker, especially the...

Re: Body Lifts

Believe me, I know how it feels to build on a budget. Most of the work that I’ve done to my current ranger has been on a college kids income. But, half assing some things (like lift kits) can cost...

Re: Body Lifts

If you say so.... haha.

It’s your truck to do with as you wish. If you feel that stacked blocks and keys are the way to go, then by all means, have at her. Those products obviously do the...

Re: Body Lifts

If you have torsion bars, then you also have a factory 2.5” lift block in the rear. If the “lift” kit you’re looking at comes with lift blocks, run away. Stacked blocks are bad news. Shackles are a...

Re: Body Lifts

Nothing wrong with ballin on a budget, but I would make a couple changes to your plan, if it were me.

1. Don’t buy aftermarket torsion keys. They are a waste of money and allow you to do more harm...

Re: Body Lifts

It really comes down to what you want to do with the truck and what your budget is. If you just like the look of a lifted truck or want to do some light trail riding, and are on a budget, then...

Re: jimmyspy's '02 4x4

Semi-annual update time.

Haven’t done a whole lot to the truck “upgrade wise”. I did paint the new to me passenger side extended cab door and got it on the truck. The old one was rotted out and...

They are not. 4wd has a built-in slip joint and 2wd slides in and out of the transmission tail housing (lengths are also different)

You’ll need to find the same driveshaft you currently have...

Thanks! I’m pretty happy with the bumper. Took way more time than I expected, but it’s exactly what I wanted.

Re: jimmyspy's '02 4x4

Thanks! I’m awful at stopping and taking pictures, but there were a few jeeple that are into photography, so there were plenty of pauses for photo ops. Haha.
