Only problem with the purple wire mod that I can see is that I would need to install an additional switch to go from a/c to non-a/c.

This is the exact problem I am having with the 2010 Ford Ranger. Couldn't understand why the A/C compressor ran on all but one setting. It seems, somehow, inefficient, to run both the A/C and then...
