Re: Dead skip in my 2.9

just tape and mark what ever you take off. you will want to replace the plenum gasket if you take the upper off, it will be flattened and brittle, and will more than likely leak if you re-use it. you...

not a 4x4 guy, i don't know a lot about transfer cases or else i would have addressed your question directly, but if you're suggesting using your existing transfer case, you will need an adapter for...

"the computer calibration that was used for the old-style heads with the open chambers will not work with the newer heads with the fast-burn chambers. In fact, "It will burn the engine down in a few...

Re: Was running replaced a lot and won't start

no need for that, this is a return style system, which is in constant circulation when the engine is running.

can of starting fluid will get close, if it won't run on that, it's either ignition...

Re: 88 ranger high pressure pump air leak?

yes it's by-passable. follow the wire from the high pressure pump up to the firewall, you'll find an inline connector that you can 12v to. for that you will want to run a relay as you'd by-pass the...

Re: 2.9 Bucks/Sputters as you accelerate and eventually dies after is gets warm

he doesn't have a mass air flow sensor.. sounds like o2 issues, but OP needs needs to pull codes, specifically KOER when the engine is warm. 86-87 2.9 did not have a functioning check engine light,...

Re: Engine swap

4.0 is the same bell as 2.9l but wiring no matter what you swap in is going to need addressed. 4.0 is wider and taller, so obviously exhaust will need a game plan.

Re: 2.9 v6 idles good in park but bogs down when accelerated

40 is max on the spec, 50 is too high. it will make a difference, friend of mine had an adjustable regulator running at around 50psi and it was way too rich

Re: HO Alternator with smaller pulley and need belt help

the tension is variable since it's a spring, too long of belt = less tension.. going to slip bad if it gets wet, and that's no fun =/

Re: HO Alternator with smaller pulley and need belt help

yup, measure with a string. the belt part numbers correlate with the lengths, put together a part #, make sure it exists, then give the parts store your part #. it may take 1 or 2 tries to get it...

Re: 88 ranger high pressure pump air leak?

the BEST way is to check fuel pressure under some kind of load, but not really practical in a lot of instances. the next would be fuel pressure in park or neutral. when it's under load, it's going to...

Re: Fuel problem

both pumps are fed 12v from the same power wire. if your intank pump is functioning, but your frame mounted is not, you either got a bad pump or you have a small electrical gremlin in the...

don't think it's air leak. that truck has 2 fuel pumps, one intank that feeds the high pressure thru a frame mounted canister, and the other mounted on the frame. doesn't sound like your high...
