Re: ranger leans to PASSENGER side not driver???

Lots of Ranger owners mess with the torsion bar adjustment bolts. Not everyone gets it even left to right. The factory shop manual has a procedure for setting the correct stock height. Other height...

Re: Different pinion lock shaft in differential...

That part is unique to the Torsen limited slip differential found in 2002 FX4 and 2003+ FX4 Level II. The bolt should be loctited and torqued to 22 lb-ft. Ideally, Ford recommends replacing it...

Re: PCV Valve

+1

Traditional PVC valves were often held in solely by the friction of an O-ring and could easily leak or come loose. Obviously, this has the potential to increase crankcase emissions.

For...

Re: Help find Heater Hose Part for 4.0L SOHC

Look up your Ranger year/engine at RockAuto.com.

Heater hoses are listed under Heat and A/C, other coolant hoses are under Cooling System.

Most parts have pictures that you may be able to...

Re: Brake drum diameter

Payload Package 2 was a standalone option that was available on your truck when new. Whether he realized it or not, the original purchaser paid extra for it. On a 2WD, regular Cab, it means slightly...

Wheel bearings can rumble without necessarily showing play.

Also --> Check to be sure that the short, thick caliper mount bolts did not loosen after the brake work. Check it before you drive the...

Re: Help! Flex fuel sensor unit. $750 hell no

Try googling "flex fuel replicator" or "flex fuel emulator". This part plugs into the harness in place of the flex fuel sensor connector and always tells the PCM the same value. It can be used with...

Re: o/d light blinking

Blinking O/D light is to the transmission as Check Engine Light is to the engine.

Could be any of dozens of possible problems. Get the transmission trouble code(s) pulled to give you direction....

Re: Brake drum diameter

It depends on the model and options. For example, in 2003, the base drums are 9". Adding any one or more of these options got you the 10" upgrade:

4x4
Edge
Supercab
Payload Package #2

Later...

Re: Wiring harness behind passenger kick panel

Those are for the Inertia Fuel Shut-0ff Switch. The wires have been cut, taking the IFSS out of the circuit. Normally, there would be continuity from one wire to the other through that switch to...

Re: Blend door acturator

I believe he is looking for the mechanical actuator. 2003-back, some Rangers came with a mechanical push/pull system instead of the more common electric actuator. It may be out there somewhere but I...

Re: 01 Edge T-Bar upgrade from “B” to “1”

2001 Ford keys are the same for 1 and B. Aftermarket sells "lift" keys but they aren't needed.

Re: 01 Edge T-Bar upgrade from “B” to “1”

1 bars are a direct replacement for B bars requiring no other parts or mods. Left and right are different lengths, so a swap to #1 bars would need one of each side. There is a special tool to relieve...

Re: Balance shafts on 4.0 SOHC

My 2003 4.0 FX4 definitely had a balance shaft. I believe that all 4.0 SOHC 4x4's had it for the 2001~2005 model years. For 2006 and later, Ford eliminated the 4x4 balance shaft.

If yours does...

Re: Headlight Mod for 2001-2010

Back in the day, I did mine @ 190~200F and it took a lot more time and more prying than I expected. Successful eventually and no deformation at that temperature. Also modded the 06+ corner markers to...

Re: (TSB)Technical Service Bulletin - Ranger driveshaft thump/clunk

I went through the regreasing routine more than once using the expensive Ford lube. As you said, only a temporary fix. The lasting fix is a set of traction bars that limit the axle wind up that makes...

Re: Help Identify Weird Noise

There is a very good chance that the noise is coming from the Excluder Seal between the steering knuckle and the outer CV housing. These dry out and start to squeal at low speed. A cleaning and a...

Re: Where is the power door lock relay located?

There is a "driver door unlock" relay, an "all lock" relay and an "all unlock" relay. All three are inside a black relay box up under the dash to the right of the steering column.

Re: Speed Sensor???

The 2001 Wiring Manual does not call out the resistance. However, Motorcraft lists the same rear axle sensor for 1990~2009 Ranger. So, IF that's right AND IF the older Wiring Manuals/EVTM's are...
