Re: 99 Ranger rear shock replacement

Here's a link to the Monroe shocks I used on the rear. For my 99 Ranger with RWD, coil springs in the front, and V6 engine. My shocks were #58608. http://www.monroe.com/catalog/e-Catalog

Re: 99 Ranger rear shock replacement

A lot better ride now. You know your shocks are bad when you hit a bump and the suspension keeps bouncing up and down for another half mile down the road. It dropped so much before the replacement...

99 Ranger rear shock replacement

99 Ranger with RWD and front coil suspension. Rear suspension was in sad condition--droopy especially with my shell on the back. Did the job in my driveway (gravel no less). Used PB blaster the...

Re: 1999 Ranger Ball Joints

I'm in the process of replacing mine at the moment. I have a 99 also with RWD and coil spring suspension. Mine only has 88 thousand miles on it and they look just as trashed as yours. Yep, you...

Re: wiring help

The cut wires were most likely for a trailer connection (green=right turn, yellow=left turn, brown=tail lights, black=ground). If they were cut and not protected they might have shorted. Check all...

Re: lock remote

Have you looked inside the remote at the soldered connections? I've had mine crack over time due to age and dropping the remote. I had this happen to a DEI remote, not a Ford remote. I haven't...

Re: gauges flutter

Look for any loose, disconnected, or corroded ground wires in the engine compartment. I've had similar issues in the past on another car when the Firestone mechanic left two of my ground wires...

Re: 01 - Power steering noise

I replaced mine in my 99 because it was so loud you could hear it moaning over the regular engine noise. Was fairly easy to do, just a bit messy. I chose to replace the pressure and return hose at...

Re: How do i change cruise control switches

If it's like my 99 then it's fairly easy. Remove the negative battery cable and wait at least 3 minutes before working near the airbag if you have one. I went ahead and pulled my positive cable too...

Re: Both power windows stopped working

There could be another possibility. If the motor design is similar to my 92 Explorer it could be the gears of each motor. If the design is the same, there are 3 round disks in the gear housing...

Re: Sticky driver door seal

What should I use as a degreaser? Acetone? The door is clean as a whistle.

Sticky driver door seal

My driver's side door seal sticks a bit. I've tried silicone on the door seal several times, but it seems to last only a few days before it begins to stick again. I can touch the seal and it...

How to add lighting to a canopy

I wanted to add lighting to my canopy and came up with a plan to add two 3 way switches to make this happen-one in the canopy and one in the cab. As I discovered, you don't have 3 way switches in DC...

Re: Truck canopy wiring

Thanks, that helps a bit. I can do this wiring with AC and use 3 way switches. Do DC switches have the same internal mechanism? Do I use a DPDT? I have seen on-off-on, off-on, on-on, and ones for...

Truck canopy wiring

I would like to wire a dome light in my shell, but would like switches in two different locations to control it. I would like a switch in the cab as well as one in the bed itself. This would allow...

Shock advice

Looking to replace my OEM shocks on my 99 XLT with the 4 liter V6. Things are a little bouncy. I've been looking at Monroe, Bilstein, and Rancho. The Rancho RS9000 series seems a bit costly for...

Re: Keys

Mine finally works. After PB Blaster and Liquid Wrench it finally gave in and succumbed to my threats of removing it and going to a locksmith. It took 4 days for the driver side to finally work. I...

Re: How to remove bolt from Power Steering Pump on High Pressure Hose?

Just taking a stab here since I don't have a photo to look at or a Haynes/Chilton. Could you use a crow's foot attachment to reach it?

Re: Please Help. ASAP!

One way to check the core is to disconnect the heater hoses and flush with a hose. I use a hose bib from Lowe's or Home Depot that looks like a graduated point that starts small and becomes...

Re: cigarette lighter- power outlet help!!

Most of the lighter/power ports only work when the key is in the ACC or Run position. Is yours in either position when you test your equipment? Most of the plug-in chargers also have a fuse inside...

Re: Keys

Lowe's or Home Depot has it in the hardware section where they cut keys. A locksmith shop would probably have it too. Sears might have it.

Re: Keys

Well, I now have one working. It took some Liquid Wrench and a bit of jiggling. I shot the LW into both locks and came back in a few hours. The passenger door works, but the driver's side is still...

Re: Keys

Well, no luck with the graphite. Yep, my father-in-law always used the remote. The pins must be really fused. I plan to run it by a locksmith and see what they say. If I have to remove the door...

Re: Keys

No, the doors are original. I sprayed a little WD-40 into them to see if maybe they were corroded a little. They don't turn at all. It just feels like they were never keyed properly. I couldn't...
