It would probably be a good time to check your heater control valve too. Make sure the plastic is not decaying. Mine was brittle and broke while idling. Its a cheap part to replace.

does the engine overheat? I recently replaced my heater control valve since mine exploded. I would try to get all the air out of the coolant lines. that should solve your problem.
