Leak at clutch pedal rod assembly

Greetings everybody,

I just noticed that the floor had a fluid stain and found what looks like a very minor leak on the small metal ledge and around the bottom of the assembly where the white...

Re: Steering column u-joint question

JSobo,

It s been holding okay. I haven t switched from electrical to gaffer tape but I might do it or use a wider tape like duck tape (not sure why the mechanic said electrical).

Thanks for...

Re: Steering column u-joint question

Fixizin,

That s what I was told by a mechanic that the boot protects the ujoint from elements (salt would probably be worst). Also I guess on mine at least the whole bottom axle needs to be...

Re: Clutch quits, works again after a week

Thanks, good to know. Others have mentioned the slave cyl so that's what I'm going to ask about first at the mechanic.

I don't see how the clutch could be the problem. It works fine as long as it...

Question Re: Clutch quits, works again after a week

Update: after driving the truck for about two weeks with no problems, the clutch suddenly stopped disengaging (miraculously I had just backed into a parking space at home).

I checked the fluid...

Re: Clutch quits, works again after a week

Thanks. Now I wish bleeding the clutch would be as 'difficult' as it is on one of my bikes. I'm almost sure I won't be able to wrench that on the truck by myself. I'll look for a visible leak, unless...

Re: Clutch quits, works again after a week

Thanks. I suspect the job is beyond my immediate mechanical abilities and time constraints. Is there a way to see the leak, if it's the slave cylinder? Is the slave cylinder a Ford part or a generic...

Re: Clutch quits, works again after a week

You mean the hydraulics (lines, master/slave cyls) other than the clutch itself?

Re: Clutch quits, works again after a week

Thanks crobson. It was towed to my place. Dealer is about a mile away. I'll take it there soon, free oil change, etc. At that point I'll ask about the clutch. I'm expecting $$. :(

While I...

Re: Clutch quits, works again after a week

Thanks. I don't know much about clutches, so it's possible that it could be worn unevenly. It's also strange how it quit suddenly, then all the attempts that day didn't work, and just as suddenly,...

Question Clutch quits, works again after a week

I got the truck in January at 93 k miles. After a while I noticed it was sometimes hard to get into first from neutral (didn't really find a pattern). Later I noticed it sometimes hesitated getting...

Re: Steering column u-joint question

The independent mechanic later said that on this model year/generation the lower steering column needs to be replaced (he couldn't replace just the boot), which is actually what the Ford dealership...

This, or the whatfore adjuster. ;) Haven't checked the thread pitch. If it's neither metric nor standard, it must be from an alien ship. And the previous owner may have helped them. Time to report...

Question D-rings on bed floor

Sorry if this sounds like a trivial question: I'd like to have D-rings held by the torx bolts on the bed floor like the stock ones on Tacomas for instance.

Is this possible? Are there any D-rings...
