Re: who all has rough idle in a 3.0?

Dezzer, this sounds like a classic case of something plugging the fuel pickup in the gas tank. All it takes is a little piece of crud, paper towel, piece of rag etc. The offending piece floats around...

Re: Teeny-weeny tiny rough idle

Search for the thread "who all has rough idle in 3.0" Basically, the 3.0s seem to have an annoying "almost but not quite" bad idle. Mine had it since new, had the dealer do all the checks. Couldn't...

Re: New guy Old problem...

Problem diagnosed and solved. I had the truck at the dealer for a trans service. After I picked it up, I stopped next to the dealer and turned off the engine to record the service in my log book....

Re: what provides power to the coil pack?

Skylark, I am having the same intermittent crank-no start problem as your friend. Diagnosing my truck is my first venture into working on computer controlled cars, so I have no authority to offer...

Re: who all has rough idle in a 3.0?

I purchased my 2002 Ranger with 3.0 new. I didn't like the idle from the beginning. Not really rough, but definitely not smooth either. The dealer did (or claims he did) whole bunch of stuff- motor...

Re: New guy Old problem...

Modelageek. Before I forget: Not a flexfuel engine. The plugs and wires are original. Nothing in the owners manual regarding changing plugs or wires at current age or miles. Maybe I should do it...

Re: New guy Old problem...

Chip, I should have been more specific: Revs were no where near upper limit. Just moderately above idle- 2500/3000 or so. I went back out and started the truck (started fine) with the intention of...

Re: New guy Old problem...

Modelageek: What is a KOER test? How do I do it? Can you suggest where I can get a tech manual online? I haven't had any luck finding anything other than very general info. No added on anti theft...

Re: New guy Old problem...

I am having a similar problem as Derek on my 2002 3.0. Good cranking speed (new battery), have changed FF 3 times in 55,000 miles. Relays not warm to the touch, fuse must be OK because it will run...

Re: Old New Guy

Thanks to all for the many warm welcomes. I must admit, I joined FRF for selfish reasons. I have a baffling intermittent no-start problem that I may have to request help on if I can't get it...

Old New Guy

Hello, My real name is Mike. I am 69 years old, retired for 14 years. (Yea, I'm one of the lucky ones). Still healthy, but would rather not crawl around under a car or truck if I don't have to. My...
