All ford stock STEEL wheels are lug centric (tapered lugnuts) If your custom wheels have flat lugnuts then I would say you need the rings,,,,

The way I would repair this problem is to remove the head and take it too a machine shop and have them rebuild the head and put "HeliCoils" on ALL the plug holes, That thread repair was not done...

There is a tool that you may be able to rent from your local Autozone or O'relly's that will pressurize the cooling system and let you see if it holds pressure, if it doesn't you'll see coolant...

Make sure you don't have a vacuum leak around where the TPS and MAF mount too, This can have you chasing your tail looking for a leak down steam...

With the engine off are you getting battery voltage on the large B+ wire on the Alternator. That wire go's to the battery through a large fuse, if you don't have battery voltage then you have a blown...

That "metal flour" you found in not a good sign, that's clutch and band material and some of it has found it's way...

If I'm not mistaken, on a four wheel drive there's a VSS on the transfer case near the rear shaft side. The other sensor on the rearend is just for ABS...

This could be something as simple as the gas cap not venting and there's vacuum building up in the tank and the pump can't overcome it but I would think that the pressure / vacuum sensor in the tank...

If the scanner powered up then you have have 12v power going to the OBD port.
You might want to go to a different AutoZone and use the scanner there.
Make sure your OBD connector doesn't have pins...
