well got a kit to lower the front 2" and the rear 3, I'm planing on cutting the sprins a bit to attempt to get 3" drop for the front, my truck is currently at the shop, i just pulled the motor out...

is the reason for the custom mounts due to your truck been a 4wd? I know the awd trucks have a much larger transfer case...

where you able to use the Explorer oil pan?

no the explorer is a 2wd and actually is a 1996 not a 1998... if I do this I will take notes and share them with the forum.

I know I will have to change steering colums because my truck is a 5 speed, but aside...

Well I got a 2/3 drop kit, after some thinking I figured that 5" drop was too much for a truck I drive 180 miles per day. So with that said, I want to go
3" on the front. The springs are 2" drop....

I did some research and the front springs cost about $120 shipped, the rear shackles go for about $120 shipped. I did not see a complete kit that didn't cost around $500 on ebay. Maybe you guys...

care to elaborate on the rear flip for $10.00

yes I'm only lowering the truck 3" all the way around so that would work.

I found a used kit with springs and leaf springs but if I can get it...

what would have a better ride, a truck that was lowered using leaf springs to lower it (talking about the rear) or a truck that was lowered using a flip kit?

both cenarios also include replacing...

Thanks for the reply... I know that I will have to do a wheel alignment, my question is more towards if I will have issues with tire wear and getting the truck to align if I go with a kit that does...

I have a set of wheels and they will fit the truck, they will look 100 times better than the ford explorer wheels that I have. I have used drag wheels on mustangs before, I never had an issue with...
