Hi: What is the name of the small cylinder part that is in the throttle body & acts up and affects idleing and running smooth. The cylinder is about 3 inches long and about 2 inches in diameter....

I replaced blower motor resistor on 2001 ranger v6 w/ac & automatic. Worked on hi with old resistor. Worked on all speeds for about 3 days, now same thing, only hi speed. Any idea where I start...
