Re: Measuring Brake Rotors/Drums

Doing this will just tell you the thickness variation in the rotor itself. To actually check run out, you need a dial indicator and have to keep the rotor on the truck with a couple lug nuts set...

Re: Automatic To Manual Swap

That is exactly what I am talking about.

As for wiring under the carpet, I don't remember really how much there was. But since I can't remember really at all, I think it would be safe to assume...

Re: Automatic To Manual Swap

I did my swap in a weekend. Well, I kinda had to. It is my daily driver, and the automatic took a dump. The converter stopped locking up so I was pretty much restricted to like 5-10 mile runs at a...

Re: Automatic To Manual Swap

It isn't really that hard. It makes it a thousand times easier that you have the same year donor truck. You'll need to swap out the pedal assembly, which is just a bolt in assembly. You might as...

Can you check a shipping quote to 49307 if you want to ship it?

Re: In a dilemma and need some advice

To sell to a junkyard/ scrap yard without a title, I believe it has to be in like 3 or 4 pieces. But this probably also varies from state to state.

Looks pretty sweet. Now post some pics of the lifted Ford in the garage.

Re: F*** MY LIFE! IDK where to begain this story.

Just FYI, the LKQ Self Serve south of Grand Rapids is having a 1/2 all items on Jan 1 and 2. All you gotta do is pull it. I would imagine that a window from an older ranger would still work on...

Re: A question about Automatic transmission

That is completely normal for Fords in general. I believe that they do that so that in the snow states, you could put the truck in 2nd gear an dhave less power available so that you may get better...

Re: ok to coast in Neutral on long downhill highways...

Or do whatever you want to do, I think the mpg differences would be minimal at best.

Now write this myth into mythbusters and have them test it. Settle the dispute once and for all.

Re: Hella TJM Ford Ranger ’93-96 Bumper Channel T17 Steel FREE Hella 500 Kit

It will probably be a deal breaker, but can you check prices for shipping to 49307? Also, do you think that it would be strong enough to weld on some D-rings for recovery applications?

Re: convert auto to standard

Yea, I did put the switch on the rod. When I asked for the pic, I was more wondering where the plug for it was in the wiring harness.

Re: convert auto to standard

^^^Do you have a pic of where the neatral safety switch is? I looked quickly and didn't find it.

I would be careful of anything with yellow connectors on it anywhere inside the cab, including...

Re: convert auto to standard

I just did this swap on my 96. It wasn't really that bad. Honestly, I think it would be just as much work going the other way as well. The main reason why I swaped mine was because the auto was...

Re: Toolboxes.....

I have had two TSC boxes now and have had no issues with them. The first one was the "fancier" latch design that pooleo8 was talking about with the latch facing down. The one I have now is the more...

Re: What would you do? Frame swap?

I would say swap the body to the 4x4 because the values of 4x4 seem to be like triple than a similar 2wd. Also, I think you need some more stock ranger parts in your garage. I bet you won't have to...

Re: shift correction kit questions??

Something that hasn't been mentioned at all in this thread is too tighten up the bands. Most of the time this is the cause of the 2-3 shift flair.

4.0 Manual 4x4 pcm

Couple of weeks ago I did the auto-manual swap on my 1996 Ranger, and know I need a 4x4 manual pcm for the 4.0L engine for it. If you know one around somewhere, it would be wonderful if you let me...

Re: Dear cash for clunkers,

I would just go to craiglist and type in just $1500 bucks in the max price box. Leave the description box empty. Like you said, you just need a cheap vehicle until you save enough for a nice ride. ...

Re: Suggestions for diesel swaps

Even there is an adapter for our crappy trans to fit it, I highly doubt it would take the torque for long. Unless you ONLY drive like a grandma it might last, but who ever does that? I have found a...

Re: Suggestions for diesel swaps

Advance Adapters is the company that makes the adapter plates. I haven't really looked that much for 4BT's, but the ones I did see for sale were I think $1,700 for the cheapest and then like 7 or 8...

Re: Suggestions for diesel swaps

That would probably be the price of a brand new engine, but you can find them pretty much all day long for $2-3,000. And a lot of times, you could get a complete engine with a trans adapter for...

Re: Suggestions for diesel swaps

I hate to break it to ya, but any diesel swap is not going to be as easy as you think it is. With the 4BT, you WILL need pretty much a whole new drive train. Obviously the engine, transmission,...
