Re: Hesitation/ping on slight hill
So all in all it was your cam sensor. Did you see it yourself? Did it look bad compared to the new one? If the sensor didn't work, that is like having your engine out of timing. I'd go a little easy...

Re: new tool set for this guy :)
Nice tools Tim Taylor! But when it comes to the ranger you'll only need the 4.5mm, 10mm, 13mm and the 13/16sae socket. A crescent wrench works for everything else.... lol

Have the codes reset. Advance Auto Parts, Autozone or O'Reiley's will do it for no charge.

Re: Hesitation/ping on slight hill
I know of only a couple things that will cause pinging. And from what I read it should have been cleared up with the Sea Foam you did. Normally it is excessive carbon build up. But I seem to remember...

Re: 2000 3.0 overheats sometimes, fine other times
My first thoughts on this is making sure the bleed hole on the thermostat faces the engine block. My second thought would that it might have been air locked. I usually leave off the radiator cap...

Re: First CEL ever after...getting new tires???
My guess is the quality of the gas may have been bad and it caused my sensor to register a CEL. Just a coincidence that it happened right after I picked up the truck from getting new tires. Now I...

Have you examined your camshaft synchronizer sensor? Take it off and look down inside to see if it is damaged.

Re: 2003 Ranger 3.0L V6 XLT problems after plug change!
Many of us have had the same problem. And most of the time it is the camshaft sychronizer and or sensor problem. Located at the back of the engine. Back out the two screws holding the sensor onto the...

Re: 2003 Ranger 3.0L Engine misses and hesitates at 4000 rpms when accelerating.
I too have recently had the dreaded can't get over 3,000 RPM problem. I thought it might have been a fuel filter issue and changed it. But still had the same problem. And then there was that stupid...
