Thanks. I think i might have found another idea i want to do. Its one of those fiberglass front ends. I usually don't like to work with the stuff but after seeing some it looks pretty neat.

well got it figured out. turns out the terminal on the positive wire side for the truck had a crack in it. Dad said he even seen a spark shoot out. got new ones on and it fired right up. go figure...
