Need help on repairing my exhaust on a budget.

OK guys, a while back the exhaust flanges on the muffler side of the catalytic converter broke off, the muffler was trashed so I tossed it and jammed an extension of pipe over the cc and clamped it...

Next weekend Im going to replace the u joints, and my chilton and haynes manual have nothing really to say on this procedure. Can someone point me in the right direction.

I did the same thing as Snerdguy, I loaned the truck to the wife, she brought it home with the muffler dragging on the ground, the flanges on the cat snapped so there was nothing to hold the muffler...
