Re: 3.0 Flex idler pulley install

I think the plastic flange is a dust cover.
If it was there from the factory, why would you question whether it should remain in place when replacing the pulley?

Re: My New Shaving System....

I've been seriously considering going to a double edge safety razor myself.
After the initial investment it will be far less expensive over time.
I shake my head in disbelief every time I by...

Re: need a new ranger please help

It's a tough nut to find even one older than 2004.
When I was last shopping in 2011 for a used Ranger, I wanted a 2wd, 4 cylinder, manual transmission extended cab.
There were so few, and what I...

Re: Anyone else wonder why fuel milage is so bad?

It never ceases to amaze me the sheer number of gas mileage threads on this board.
That having been said, my 3.0 Auto 2wd gets 16 around town, and on road trips 20-21 is the norm.
I wanted a 2.3...

Re: How many Rangers have you had?

I'm on my 2nd one.
First was a '96 I bought new.
My current one is an '03 I bought used in 2011.

I still miss the old '96 though. Mocha Frost Metallic.

Re: Add weight to the bed?

I use a pallet that is flipped upside down with the center boards removed. Cradles the bags nicely.
Fits perfectly between the wheel wells, and since I have a rubber mat it doesn't move.
I like 4...

Re: Are the 01 Ranger 3.0 "V" and "U" interchangeable?

Just get a good used or rebuilt short block and an oil pan.
I don't understand why you guys are getting into arguments over the compatibility of fuel rails, injectors, the ECU etc. when all he needs...

Re: Detering pests in city limits???

I wish I had thought of this when my neighbor across the street was letting his 2 cats roam free!
Need to keep this in mind.

Re: If you could say something..

Thanks for changing the oil every 3,000 miles and documenting it.
I would also like to know if you still have the tailgate handle lock key?

Re: 289 into a ranger

I would bet much of the information for a 302 swap would also work for a 289 swap.

Re: how to improve MPGs? for possible road trip

A '94 4cyl with manual should be getting around 25 mpg highway. That is what my similarly equipped '96 would do.
Slow down. There is no shame in being passed. lol

Clandestine trip into Twin Cities Ranger plant.

I came across this website from a group of local urban explorers.
This link is to their exploration of the Twin Cities Ford plant back in 2008.
Thought you might enjoy.

Re: Mystery Parts - Help Identify

Those are sleeves to place over the connecting rod bolts, so when you insert the pistons into the block you don't risk the bolts scratching the crankshaft journals.
Rubber hose works as well.

Re: Does everybody hate chrome?

Like chrome myself. Factory installed chrome, not add on crap from the local Wal-Mart.
Really not a fan of the blacked out look myself, but whatever, if that's what someone wants that's fine.

Re: Made in the U.S.A.?

I just do my best not to buy the cheapest, bargain basement priced no name parts.

Am I going to buy the $18.00 brake rotor in a box with an unknown label?
Or the $70.00 plus brake rotor made by...

Re: In you opinion whats the best vehicle ever created...

Never owned one. Rode in a few as a kid.
But having been built from 1938–2003, with 21,529,464 having been built. It's a top contender.
I give you the VW Beetle.
