I resently purchased a 2.5 L engine out of a 1998 Ranger with an automatic transmission to drop into my 1997 Ranger with a manual transmission. A friend of mine thought the 2.5 L engine may not bolt...

I would say check the Kelly Blue Book and also go out on Craig's List and try to find one that is comparable. The KBB tends to be a little high but don't under estimate your vehicle either because...

I need to replace the 2.3L engine in my 97 Ranger. Will the 2.5L drop in without having to replace any electronics?

Thanks, man. I think I will look for a rebuild and use the existing engine to tinker with. Probably rebuild it and use it for the next transplant because I am keeping this one for a long, long time....

Question: Since I need another 2.3L engine for my Ranger what years will work to be able to just drop one down into my 1997 5 speed?
