Re: truck shakes when applying brakes

Problem sounds like it's the break system since you've done all the typical suspension maintenance and calibration.
1. drum breaks are supposed to be self-adjusting. They simply don't do a good...

Quick Y/N: is there any reason a shop would drain the transmission when they do a clutch kit, flywheel, and slave cylinder?

Thank you for reading/responding!

rpms drop a lot slower now

Hi and thanks for reading.

The engine RPMs fall a lot slower (when shifting) after a shop replaced my clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder, and resurfaced the flywheel. Is that normal?

My...

Re: Why owning a truck is a hundred times better than owning a car

1) it gets my guns out to the desert and back
2) my only modding goals are "tall and full of bass"
3) country music sounds better in them
4) so much sex has been had in the passenger seat. So much.

Re: Why MPG, Why?!

I get 12.5 - 13.5 MPG depending on time of year. See my specs below.

4.10 gears are built to crawl and haul, not accelerate. If you want to get 15mpg your going to have to turtle step and shift...

Re: 96 4.0 OHV Bucks Accelerating and After Shifts

you need to diagnose better than this.
Clutch slipping?
Worn engine mounts?
Check Engine Light on?

Re: '96 4.0 swap into '03 with 4.0

The SOHC is a chattery engine to begin with. Not "man that's broken" chattery, but enough to make you wonder if the head needs to be seafoamed.

Re: New to this forum some questions

KBB is a fair estimate of value here in AZ. Id take 8K for that truck if I was hungry for the money. If not I'd hold out for 8200.

Re: New to this forum some questions

I have the 4.0l 5speed. I've seen many hit 150k without having any major maintenance done: belts, plugs, oil, filters.

Things to consider:
The manual transmission is rock solid but can't handle...

Re: '96 4.0 swap into '03 with 4.0

The '96 Explorer probably has the older generation cologne 4.0: pushrod design with 160hp.
The '03 Ranger definitely has the new generation cologne 4.0: SOHC with 207hp.

If you are asking will...

Re: How to: Install new plugs (4.0 V6)

Time it took me: 2 hours
Pulling the plug boots by hand was rediculously hard on the passenger side.
I used Bosch Platinum plugs and love them. (Debate plugs elsewhere.)
