Re: Timing Belt Removal
Maybe it was wrong on your truck, but the balancer on my '97 2.3L did not have any threaded holes in which to use the Y style puller. The 3 jaw was the only way to get the balancer off the crank.

Re: Timing Belt Removal
Take the radiator out and use the larger 3 claw puller...I think the one I used was 7". The balancer removal tool with the 'Y' design won't work, the Ranger balancer doesn't have the necessary...

Re: Your experience with bedliners
I've had a plastic liner in every truck I've had...never had a problem with rust.
Downside: They will rub a little paint off in spots and stuff will slid around.
Upside: Impact resistance vs. a...

Re: Need help replacing a timing belt on a 1993 ford ranger
Glad to help.
I didn't replace the h2o pump, thermo, or tensioner...mainly because I don't like to replace working parts and if one of those goes out, it'll only take an hour or two to repair.

The timing belt on my 1997 Ford Ranger (2.3L, 5spd) broke on the way home last Monday. I searched the various forums and repair manuals for how to proceed with replacing the belt. Most write ups were...

Re: Air Conditioning and Gas Consumption
Max AC only moves the damper door from pulling outside air to using inside air, so the compressor is doing them same work and wouldn't have an effect on mpg.
The fan on high, using more electricity,...

Re: Ford installed bed liner
The benefit to drop-in liners is impact resistance. A bed w/ as spray-in liner will dent just as easily as one with no liner. The drawbacks to drop-ins are the potential moisture trapping, slick...

Re: GM's Colorado Vs. Ranger....
My biggest problem with the Colorado/Canyon is their price vs. size (and lack of fuel economy). I bought a new fullsize truck ('08 Dodge Ram QCSB) for $3,000 less than the equivalent Colorado. The...
