Bad Tranny, Bad!
Well, the old girl has 215,000 miles and the transmission is about shot. I'm just looking for any information anyone might have (especially in the Northeast Ohio area) on what is the best option for...

As soon as I have some disposable income, I'll hit ebay. Are you satisfied with yours, Clinton?

Re: fixing surface rust and repainting...?
I've been working on some rust on my truck for the past couple days. My technique is sand the until rust is completely gone using the rough stuff, 60 or 80 grit. Then use finer and finer grit until...

Update:
I replaced the broken one. It took a hack saw to remove lol. Ohio winters turned the one long bolt into a big ol' rusty turd. Replacing the other one tomorrow.

I might take them off and see how it feels. I don't plan on doing much off roading with her so it might be better to replace them.

Re: That doesn't look good...
That sounds simple enough. I've never worked on one of my vehicles before today. I noticed the sway bar link while pulling out some wiring the previous owner had done. I'm glad I joined FRF, and I...

You got those off rockauto? They are simple looking, but they add a touch of class over the stock ones. I have a new learning project :D

I'm no gear head, but I'm learning. Is this a hard/expensive fix?
I assume this is what was making the clunking sound when I start and stop.

Re: What did you do to your ranger today thread
I pulled off the crappy after market lights the previous owner put on the bumper. I had to take off the skid plate to pull out all the wiring. While I was under the hood, I did the flood light mod....

Subaru and the Pogues
Has anyone else seen the Subaru commercial with "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" by the Pogues? While it's a pretty good song, it just doesn't seem to fit with the commercial. And the Pogues...

Re: Changing tire size
I paid $620 after tax for my Wrangler TDs. They look great and have plenty of tread. I've done some off roading and rarely had to kick in the 4x4.

Re: Ranger Rookie
The 4.0s are better motors from what I heard. My uncle had a 2000 with a 3.0, the trans went around 145,000. My truck now has a 3.0 and it's having transmission problems, it's at 206,000. But as...

Re: "Your Door is Ajar" ...No it's not!
The striker has a little rust, but it looks fine. I stripped the bolts holding it though, so to remove it I'm going to have to drill them out. The tape seems to be working pretty well, I drove it...

Re: "Your Door is Ajar" ...No it's not!
UPDATE:
The problem with the latch is it's not making enough contact on the striker. The bolts holding the striker are far too rusted to adjust. I wrapped the striker with some electrical tape, it...

Re: "Your Door is Ajar" ...No it's not!
That could work. I've grown bored with it today. Next time I feel ambitious, I'm going to see if I can tear out that latch. If it's too rusted I may just take it into a shop.

Re: "Your Door is Ajar" ...No it's not!
Adjusting the latch seems to help a bit, it is easier to get the light to go out now. But it seems that the main problem is a broken rear door latch. The bottom door latch doesn't actually latch when...

Re: "Your Door is Ajar" ...No it's not!
I actually just noticed they are adjustable. I moved it as far back as possible, it didn't help. I did notice that when I push on the bottom of the rear door, the light goes out. It must be the latch...

"Your Door is Ajar" ...No it's not!
I'm having a problem with my passenger side door. The "Door Ajar" light keeps coming on. It doesn't go out unless I put my weight into it. That fixes it until I close the driver's door or until I hit...
