Re: 3.0 cold start problem
Well, I disconnected the battery before I took off this morning. Didn't notice any cold bog! One test isn't quite enough to confirm it..but it'd be nice if that took care of it.
I knew the...

Re: 3.0 cold start problem
My truck does something similar - but it's not as bad, so I live with it. Mine is fully tuned up, no ck engine light etc..
When you first start it - it runs and idles fine. But when you first get...

Re: Oil leak on back of motor. Oil press sending unit?
I know on old cars with distributors - theres just an o-ring seal sealing that area. It's not under and pressure other than crankcase breathing pressure. So any leak from that would be pretty minor....

Re: Oil leak on back of motor. Oil press sending unit?
It seems like it could be leaking there - and my cam sensor does rattle at certain times.
But I have trouble imagining that much oil leaking from there either - being that it's not a source of...

Re: Oil leak on back of motor. Oil press sending unit?
Hmm.. I took a closer look at it with a mirror, and it looks like it could be coming from the back of the lower intake manifold. I can't imagine that much leaking from there though..Can't imagine...

Re: Oil leak on back of motor. Oil press sending unit?
Thanks..I appreciate it.
I've been losing a lot of oil since I changed the oil pan and had the motor out. New front and rear seals..New intake/head gaskets etc.. It just recently started puddling...

Oil leak on back of motor. Oil press sending unit?
I've had a real tough to find oil leak for a while now. It's appeared ever since I reinstalled the motor.
I'm now pretty sure its coming from the white round sensor that plugs into the back of the...

Re: Got rearended today at a light, should I be worried?
Sounds like you were very nice and forgiving. I'd be the same with my old Ranger, but I don't know about a brand new one.. It sounds like your truck is totally fine and you're just a bit paranoid....

Re: 2003 3.0 v6 pan gasket
Unless your '03 Ranger is significantly different - It sounds like you need to do some research. Just do some searches on 3.0 oil pan on the forum and you'll find plenty of threads about it.
You...

Re: 2003 3.0 v6 pan gasket
I'd check all the pan bolts and make sure they're all tight and none are missing. And also make sure the gasket isn't pushing or being squeezed out/in.
To change it you more or less have to pull...

Re: Oil Pan Drain Plug dumb question
Yea, it still looks good. I'd reuse it.
I usually put a dab of black RTV Ultra on the bottom of threads/gasket on my cars if the gasket looks a little rough. Never leaks.
You can replace the...

I've never replaced mine (I do hear it rattling from time to time, so I probably will in the future) - So I'm not an expert on them. But I would make sure you did the install right, and make sure the...

I have a '95 3.0l with auto trans, 3.45 gears. New head gaskets, full tune up, etc.. I get 21-22 at best. 19 has been my lowest recorded. However, I haven't done any real highway driving and checking...

Re: Shift Hard Jerk
You're shifting at 5K RPM? And it has a shift kit? Yea, that's going to be a hard shift. I doubt anything is wrong with it. Just go easier on your transmission and let it shift sooner than that.

Re: Oil in coolant
The rust color is likely your water pump impeller being rusted out. Real common on these motors. Has the water pump ever been replaced?

Not sure why he would say your radiator is bad.. That would have nothing to do with oil in the coolant. (except for red tranny fluid).
If ther was only that much oil in it..Yea, I would probably...
