A po174 lean code, is a code for for bank 2. (the left) drivers side of the engine on a ford vehicle with a transverse mounted v-6 engine & front wheel drive. This code will not set on a 4 cylinder...

Was the crank sensor unplugged? Is it getting fuel & spark? Go back over it & see if you left any wires unplugged. Also check to see if the firing order is correct. It sounds like if it is backfiring...

Sounds like a defective fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum line off of the regulator & see if you have fuel there or it looks wet, If you do then you need a new one, thats all.

Check the back of the steering wheel for a cancelling pin. I'm not really sure if that model has one or not but there has to be some sort of a cancelling pin which should be about 9 o'clock...
