Hey if anybody is still reading this thread... do you guys have any opinions/experience with cone filters? Just removing the air box and putting one on? If so, any brand suggestions?

Got a stock 2001 xlt 4.0 and I'm trying to make it mean. Does anybody have headers on theirs and if so any suggestions on brands? If not.. are they even worth it?

thanks diablo. did the mod, didnt have time to grab a filter yet but going to asap. was very easy to do. first mod on truck checked off list :)

well if the oil based filter is the case then wouldnt that be a problem airbox modded or not? i just mean is there any downside to the mod itself. I think Ryan put it pretty well though lol. i trust...

and just pop in a replacement k&N filter? that doesn't sound so hard lol. what are the downsides to this?

so is all that airbox mod is doing is removing the snorkel and then putting everything else back in place?
