Thanks for the input. I found it and checked it out. Looks good. I don't think thats my problem. That valve is only activated when the air conditioner is turned on.

Can you tell more about the heater contol valve. Where is it. How can I tell if it's bad

sarched hte heater control valve. Can that actually cause the temp gauge to fluxuate?

This is the fitting the the stem off of the lower raditor hose goes to. 1) Whats it called? 2) Where can I get one? It corroded through and had to have it braized once. It just needs to be replaced...

I flushed out the heater core and it seems to be blowing warmer air now.
