Re: Upgrading my battery, recommendations
For what it's worth I have had an Optima yellow top in my 2005 Edge for the last 3 years. The yellow top is a deep cycle battery, which might be a good choice if the vehicle sits for any length of...

FireRanger,
I am hoping you can point me in the right direction as I am sure others have been in this predicament. In my truck (a 2005 Ranger Edge - 4.0L OHC) I have been fighting the temperature...

Re: No current to temp blend knob
Get yourself a decent 1/4 drive socket set. That will work. Just have patience and be very careful.
I did it on my 2005 without issues. It is a very tight fit, but doable and the dealer will take...

Re: Starting problems and a few other
It's likely that your existing battery has or is developing a bad cell. Once that happens it will not hold a charge (if it charges at all) and the symptoms you describe will occur.
Either swap it...

Re: Starting Issue, Kind of Weird
OK. So replacing the pump did the trick. No problem starting now at all. I did have a local shop that I know do the actual replacement. My wife went balistic about me fooling around with the fuel...

Thanks for the info jscrenci63!
Probably going to happen next weekend as the pump won't be here until next Tuesday or so.
Going to be very careful and take it slow. Just want to be careful...

Hey iowafx4,
Just a couple of questions if you have the time.
How did you remove the locking ring on the pump? I see there is a special tool kit available and perhaps my local auto emporium...

Re: Possible Problem? Keep smelling a slight Antifreeze problem
Get some good lighting and check out the valley between the heads and behind the thermostat housing. If you see residue it might be your thermostat housing that is leaking at the base.
That...

Well I gotta say it does look like I am going to replace the fuel pump as a final fix to this issue. What a pain. So many people seem to have run into this, but it seems to manifest itself in...

Just as an FYI - if your 2004 XLT has the same coding as my 2005 Edge (it probably does):
Both senders have two wires - They are:
PCM sender - light green/red and gray/red
Gauge sender -...

You can change the thermostat itself without taking off the lower housing, but if your housing is leaking at the back into the intake valley that is another issue.
The slower, but safer way to do...

Seems like it might be a good idea to change the fuel filter even though it has only been about 10,000 miles. Changed it almost two years ago. I always use good gas...

The temperature setting knob controls a...
