Re: Emergency please help

Re: Sloppy Shifter Problem

Well, that's definitely not good.

I'm sure that this goes without saying now... But I'd make sure that you're all they way in park and setting the parking brake when you're on a hill.

I...

Re: Noisy serpentine belt on '93 2.3L, need input.

Or not.

If you're getting squealing (this is an assumption) it's either that the belt has stretched beyond use or your tensioner is shot.

Either way, if the belt is old replace it.

A...

Re: hesitation and shutters at 1500 RPM...help?!

I don't really think it's the trans... It sounds like you're bogging down and / or have a misfire.

So first a few questions:

Do you have a CEL?
Are you having any issues at idle?
What...

Re: cherry bomb test glasspac

If they're going on a 4 cylinder Ranger I'd say don't do it. Glass packs of any sort tend to sound like crap on 4 cylinders.

A friend of mine welded in a single cherry bomb (18" long, 2" ID inlet...

Re: Idle fluctuates low

Good point.

It's looking like cleaning the IACV, EGR valve, cleaning/replacing the PCV, and checking for vacuum leaks would be your best next step.

But I say definitely clear the code and see...

Re: 1998 Ford Ranger XLT; shift knob removal.

The pic isn't mine, it's from another Ranger forum.

Overdrive and 5th gear are commonly referred to as the same thing. It's use is really meant for highway cruising though.

And realistically,...

Re: Do you think i could me this setup work?

I'm pretty sure I owned that exact setup before (the larger of the two boxes).

The RF Punch series is kinda outdated, but they were decent.

IMO, one would be enough in a ranger. Keep the second...

Re: seat swap

You can bolt in some seats from other Fords, see below:

Some of them may require swapping your current seat tracks to the new donor...

Re: Short Shift

Most aftermarket STS's achieve they're shortened throw from one of the following ways:
1) By increasing the pivot point's diameter (if it's a ball type pivot). [pretty short throw]
2) By increasing...

Re: 1998 Ford Ranger XLT; shift knob removal.

... You have a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT, with a four speed manual transmission, that has the reverse gate to the right and up?

That's strange.

Umm.. I'm pretty sure the shift pattern should look...

Re: Blackouts

Well, they are still legal... For off-road use only.

Exhibit A of why they're illegal and dumb.

True, but I believe it's: "Ignorance of the law does not excuse you from it." Which...

Re: Idle fluctuates low

Shouldn't your engine not have a distributor? I thought they went distributorless.

I'd check the PCV valve, it can cause a drop in RPM's at idle. They're only a few bucks and they take seconds to...
