Im having the same problem. except mine wants to die but doesn't yet... it runs perfect when cold but as soon as it heats up the problems starts. ive read that a clogged cat will do it i haven't...

I have a 87 ranger that was having similar problems wouldnt ilde right and would want to die at random times. Ended up being the fuel pressure regulator. Not sure if the newer ones have one. But...

I am having the same problem right now, i just put new gaskets on the whole top end because i was getting water in the oil.. come to find out i have a cracked head. don't have the money to fix it...
