Dirt on the mirror will not show on your pics. You probably have some dust particles on your sensor. If a rocket blower dosen't move them, you can have the sensor profesionnaly cleaned for about 50$...

1- No. I prefer to shoot raw for the freedom it allows, but you can shoot Jpeg if you prefer.

2- I find the easiest is to shoot in aperture priority, and if your camera dosen't have 'bracketing',...

I use and absolutely love my original Minolta AF's... beercan, mini-beercan (100-200 f/4.5), 50/1.7, 135/2.8. wonderful lenses !

No, the a700 is APS-C. been drooling over full frame for a while...

I shoot 5 bracketed RAWs, process them with ACR, then load the 5 resulting images in Photomatix to 'cook' the HDR.
