I haven't said anything negative or positive about synthetics, nor provided any specifics about their properties, so the confusion obviously isn't on this end.

BTW, I think you've been mislead about the thickness of oil. At cold temps, the 5w20 flows identically to 5w30. The 5 w means 5 weight. The oil in cold temps is the same viscosity, same thickness,...

Yes, I was talking about STP oil additive. There are others too, but that is the best known one.

I have a 96 Ranger XLT with a 2.3 and still strong at 216000 miles. While I do not have a lower end noise after an oil change, I do have lifter noise at idle for about 100 miles. This is totally...
