Re: 99 ranger won’t stay charged
All cars with computers and electric presets on the radio use 10 to 25 milliamps of current to keep the memory alive when turned off. However it often takes awhile for various modules to turn off,...

Re: 270ma trickle charge?
First, you might not have a parasitic draw. You measured with your charger in the circuit. You need to measure the draw after the truck should be asleep, no charger, to see what the draw is. ...

Re: Disconnected cruise control and now have extra wires?
Since a cruise control uses an input from the brake to turn it off, the disconnected wires could be causing the brake related warnings, assuming you didn't have them before you disconnected. If...

Re: Disconnected cruise control and now have extra wires?
They likely only go to the aftermarket cruise control, which means they likely go nowhere now. Just tie them up out of the way. If something no longer works, then you may have to investigate...

Re: 270ma trickle charge?
Clamp on DC meters are quite approximate. To find a parasitic draw you want a standard voltmeter to measure across the two contacts on each fuse.

Re: 270ma trickle charge?
You will likely need to wait 15 to 20 minutes to be sure everything has gone to sleep that is going to. On youtube they measure across each fuse to find the one with any voltage. Normally the...

Re: 1999 Ranger XLT running rough and losing antifreeze with code P0303
I would assume you have two separate problems. I would fill the coolant with 50% antifreeze, assuming it freezes where you are, and look for the leak. I would pull the #3 plug and drop the gap to...

Re: ABS issue
If you have 4 wheel ABS you may have sensors on the front wheels as well as the one on the diff. If so tire sizes should all be similar. If you have 2 wheel ABS than you will not have sensors on...

Re: Fan Clutch - recommendations
I have never heard of a fan clutch screeching. This engine has a camshaft position sensor that is supposed to screech when it is going bad, but that is near the fire wall. I would open the hood...

Re: Coil spring help please
I know you said that the coil springs are sagging. It is more common for the rear leaf springs to sag, which would likely cause a bit of front sag . Check to see that the bed sets level. If...

Re: Engine oil in coolant overflow tank.
If you have an auto transmission, it is more likely that it is tranny fluid from the tranny cooler in the radiator, but I suppose it could be engine oil, possibly from a head gasket problem. Oil...

Re: Ranger 2006 Pulling the ABS Motor fuse 17 permanently.
I can't answer your questions, but I personally would not eliminate a safety system. It is possible that a pulled fuse could be used against you if you are involved in a contentious wreck, but I...

Re: Code P0231
You likely mixed up a couple of the spark plug wires. I've done it more than once. I now do everything on one plug before I move on to the next one. That way I don't mix up the wires.

Are they the correct part number? If the injectors flow too much fuel it will run bad and unburned fuel can come out of the exhaust. Some folks think that higher volume injectors will give more...

I would try the fuel injectors that came with the motor you heard run. I am assuming that you never heard the injectors run in the old engine, so why would you use them? They may not be the...

I have the same problem with the drivers side on my '99. The correct tightening torque for the nut is 18 inch pounds. You can get this torque using your hand on a socket, so it is not so tight. ...

If you had enough charge I believe the compressor would stay on. If it were my truck I would get a fill hose with a pressure gauge in it and a can or two of refrigerant. Hook the can to the hose...

Re: AC quit 2005 ranger Edge
If the high side and low side pressures are normal with the engine running, the clutch is working fine and the air blowing out of the dash should be cool. What low side pressure did you see?

Re: AC quit 2005 ranger Edge
Leaks are often found by DIY folks by looking for an oily spot on the system as the leak also takes oil out with the refrigerant. Start by checking the pressure on the low pressure side with the...

My guess is it is low on refrigerant. The clicking is likely the clutch on the compressor clicking on and off. With more refrigerant the clutch would stay on long enough to cool. You probably...

The check engine light means that it should have a code set. It will not likely tell you what to replace but may give clues as to what the nature of the problem is. An auto parts place can read...

My advice is to look at the brakes yourself and see what is needed. Some mechanics will tell you everything needs to be replaced because that makes the job more expensive. If you can do the work,...

If the wires are correct, then you likely installed a bad new part. If you can tell which cylinder is the problem, swap the old proven parts in for that cylinder, or swap between cylinders to see...
