I wasn't trying to be a smart -ss, I just know that it isn't the same filter for,..... say....a 1993 with a 3.0L. so yeah, there are some differences. but anything over 2000 should all be the same

will one from a 1999 or a 2008 be the same as a 1993?
mine runs across just behind the radiator with what looks like two small tubes, then turns into one larger tube as it gets to the passenger...

Agreed! the 3.0 is all over the place. However, the cheaply made, plastic, intake tube is usually the very first item on them to go bad. IE: Cracks in the bellows, splitting at stress areas, etc....

Factory preferred but aftermarket is okay.
Mine is still in one piece but wont be for long. It is splitting at the bellow part.

bad MAF, IAT, Cold start valve, bad tach, bad ignition components.
Could be a lot of things.
First things first....
When the tach jumps do you "Hear" the engine rpms change, or just see the needle...

That's actually a stretched Rabbit with the rear section fenced for transporting sheep and goats.

Why not spend the minimal amount of bucks and have the center bored?
We used to do this (have this done) on rims all the time at local engine machine shops.
