Re: O/D light steady blinking + CE light

Besides the evap codes you have a code for every solenoid in the transmission. They all have a common wire that Goes back to the ECU so that wire might be broken somewhere between transmission to...

Re: O/D light steady blinking + CE light

Flashing O/D light means you have a transmission error code. Need to have it scanned to see what the code is.

Re: EGR Valve

This code means the EGR sensor is feeding back a low voltage (less than 0.195 volts).

The DPFE sensor I think on the 4.0 is mounted on the driver side intake manifold under the idle air control...

Re: 1999 Ranger - Won't Start, tried everything

Put a test light on fuse 24 under the hood (7.5 AMPS) when turning the key to start. Test light should light up, this will at least confirm the ignition switch is working.

Re: 1998 Ranger 2WD 2.5L Wont Start - Good Crank, Good Fuel, No Spark

Get it fixed?

If not you can disconnect the PCM connector and connect your voltmeter to pins 21 and 22 and crank to see if you get voltage. This is a 2 wire sensor not a 3 wire (hall effect) so it...

Re: Misifire Stalling after High Revs, Runs fine above idle

So I looked and evidently 0.060" is the stroke range of the HLAs. I will confirm later tomorrow looking at my old ones.

Head was cracked between valve seats (probably due getting more heat from...

Misifire Stalling after High Revs, Runs fine above idle

I'm putting this post out there as a TSB for the Ranger community with the 2.3/2.5 Lima engines.

So many posts have these symptoms and most users fire the parts cannon at it and spend quiet a bit...

Re: 1999 ranger 2.5 coils

Got a bad ground side switched signal on that coils connector.

Center wire is hot and each wire on the side is grounded by the computer to ground the coil primary.

This is a waste spark system...

Re: Straight talk about Idle Air Control Valves (IAC)

What was your TPS voltage at idle before and after replacement? I know these trucks set idle voltage every time the ignition is turned on but I’m wondering if there is a voltage that still messes it...

Re: Help! Is my ECM going insane?

Each type of monitor needs certain conditions to be set like coolant temp and fuel tank level.

Take a look at this document from Ford and it will give you some information on what to look for for...

Re: Speedometer Calibraation

Easy as pie on a 2wd 98-00 Ranger. If you haven’t heard of Forscan look it up. It’s a free (for PC) software that allows you to have a 90% equivalent factory scan tool. Get a BAFX Products adapter...

Re: heater hose/water pump questions

I had the same “ninja throwing star” corroded water pump on my 2000 2.5L. Battled no heat for a whole winter season.

I think basic convection keeps the engine from over heating.

Also believe...

Re: Denso replacement coil pack 2002 Ranger 2.3L

Doesn’t matter. These are waste spark coils. 1 and 4 are companion cylinders and so is 2 and 3. When cylinder 1 fires on the compression stroke, 4 fires on exhaust. When 4 is on compression,1 is on...

Re: Is a new Ford GEM module pre-programmed?

Technically you don’t have a GEM, you have a CTM (central timer module).

You can get a 2x4 GEM or a 2x4 CTM and they will both work. The only difference is the 2x4 GEM has the auto down function...

Re: Is a new Ford GEM module pre-programmed?

The main thing for a 2wd that requires programming is the tire size.

The programming function of forscan is only on the PC version.

Re: Is a new Ford GEM module pre-programmed?

It’s possible but did you know you can program one yourself using forscan? (Total cost $20)

Re: 99 ranger 2wd front suspension

It’s not a damn Mazda design. People need to stop spreading that shit. It’s essentially the same engine in the 1970s Pintos.

Re: Power door installation

I’ve don’t this to a 2000 model and it’s a fun project. For a 98 you will have to swap the engine bay harness (from the 2 bulk head connector all the way around to the blower motor, including fuse...

Re: 2.5 stumbles on idle when cold

Won’t work on your 93 as it is OBD1 but it will work on your 2000 OBD2 truck. The adapter i use is BAFX products Bluetooth adapter (like $22 from Amazon).
