The gasoline must be going somewhere, here is some other suggestions:
1. a gas leak between the gas tank and the carb.
2. a plugged catalytic coverter. If this is happening, the converter will...

Re: Just bought 1996 4 cyl need help
The coil might be going bad. It will usually fail after the engine compartment gets hot. I am not sure how to check the coil but look on this site and someone should know how to do it. As I...

Re: Easy Spark Plug Change on 8-plug 4 Banger
I remember the little hook and the end of the spark plug wire. Mine was cracked but still worked. I used a bent cloth hanger wire to pull it out. I would recommend using the Motorcraft double...

Re: Starting problems on 1998 ranger 4.0 V-6
Maybe it needs a tune-up: new wires and plugs. My guess since it is so low mileage, that it never has had a tune-up. Look at the wires, if they are Motorcraft, I would guess that they are original...

Re: No Spark Cylinder 4
Put an inductive timing light on the spark plug wire for cylinder 4 and see if it flashes. If it flashes then you are getting a spark. Since each cylinder has two spark plugs, make sure you check...

Re: bad fuel millage
I would suggest the following might cause your problem:
The timing belt might have jumped a cog and the timing is way off. Get a timing light and check the timing.
Since you have had bad...

Hesitation during starting
I have a 95 Ranger with 2.3 motor and 5 speed manual with about 150,000 miles on it. About 9 months ago I put in a new starter and it worked fine until the last week or so. Now when I try to start...

Thanks for the information from everyone. I will be increasing the tire pressure from 35 psi to 44 psi during my next trip to the gas station. Will drive it around for a few weeks and see how it...

I was looking at my tires and it shows a maximum of 44 psi. Does anyone use 44 psi in their tires? How does the truck feel with this much pressure. I currently use 35 psi in my tires and it seems...

Most of the snow tires that I seen are marked as being M+S (mud/snow) tires. Maybe a pure mud tires have a harder rubber than snow tires. The wear ratings on the tires should be a good indicator of...

I agree with you. Your math is a little bit off, the percentage is 13.8% not 1.14%. The calculation of mpg is correct.

I agree that the video shows you how to do it but it requires that you remove the clutch line which is certainly a major chore. If you do not need to replace the clutch line, bleeding while on the...

When you bypass the new relay it starts, it sounds like you still have a bad relay. Maybe the new one is bad too. Take it back to store and exchange it for another one.

I live in Minnesota and it snows a lot here. With 2WD, you will need to put some weight in the back or else you will just spin the tires. I usually put 4 or 5 bags of salt pellets in the back as...

I am pretty sure that you have a hydraulic clutch.
Try bleeding it, just like bleeding brakes. You will need a helper. One person to add Dot 3 brake fluid and another to push the clutch pedal....
