Re: Cluster and tail lights out...
Thanks guys, I found the problem. It was a license plate socket shorting out. Apparently it didn't like the caustic water and fertilizer combo when I washed out the bed!

Replaced the RABS valve and all is well... Also had to replace the rear hard line due to rust. The ice melter used here in the winters eats cars alive!

I know this is a dead thread but it's a very good one for accessing the instrument cluster. Dan

Hi all,
I have a 97 2.3 manual reg cab with 155K miles. The ABS light comes on after approximately 3 minutes of normal driving. This is a recent occurrence (last few weeks), the truck sits all...

Fix that Annoying Rattle in your late 90s Ranger
Hey all,
Since last fall I've had a rattle when going over small bumps which seemed to come from the front end. I have 150K on her, my daily driver, and have replaced all the normal wear items in...

Re: Replace fuel filler tube on 1997 XLT
Another helpful hint... Use an engine hoist on the bed to lift it if you don't have any help!!
I bought my filler hose on-line at Autoart.com

Too bad about the web-tailer, they treated me well but I guess they could not sustain.
As for your project, in my experience, all you need to to do is start working on it. Reviewing a Chilton...

Re: Recurring Chronic Brake issues
Passage, I replaced the ABS valve for about $100 and the rear sensor for under $30 (I don't remember exactly - I think it was closer to $15). Of course I did it myself so I saved all labor costs. It...

Re: New Stereo
Sorry, a mis-type, it's a Polk 600W (model 660). I originally planned for a 1000W amp but decided I didn't need that much power in such a small cab, didn't want to upgrade my alternator, and changed...

Re: New Stereo
That's what I figured out as well GLH... no need for the really large speaker wires. My 89 B2200 I won't use them, I'll use a smaller.
Thanks Drunkie, I love my unit... even at very low volumes it...

Re: Recurring Chronic Brake issues
I think it's only one wheel and I'm not certain of the line setup but that's also a good idea... I think I'm going to go through the entire system. It's probably time since I have140K on this truck....

1. The rear brakes squeak on and off like the drum(s) are warped, I've had them turned three times.
2. There is...

Sorry, no. Figured 30 days was long enough to hold on to them after posting. Threw it in the recycle pile a couple days ago. It's been rained and snowed on so I'm sure it's no good now.

I have an original stereo/cassette and speakers from a '97 Ranger available. This stereo was hardly ever used as my Dad was legally deaf. It sounds great and is in perfect working order.
