Re: Am i too old?

Yes, you are too old and will struggle getting into it. Get an F150 and leave the Rangers to the rest of us.

60 and lovin' it!

Re: Used Ranger Prices Hold Steady Here

My thinking was there would be more used ones on the market with the intro of the new one, thus deflating used prices. Has not happened.

Used Ranger Prices Hold Steady Here

Since picking up my 09 Ranger two years ago I have been monitoring the prices on them to see if the intro of the new Ranger had any impact on them, notably affecting resale.

I have not seen any...

Re: DIY Windshield Cover

Changed the way the tarp is secured to the vehicle. Picked up some hard drive magnets and use one on each corner of the tarp. So far it is holding in place, but the winds have not been 50mph yet. It...

DIY Windshield Cover

This winter the Ranger is parked in the driveway due to storing a car in the garage. After tiring of scraping ice off the windshield a couple of times I looked into windshield covers and realized...

Re: Getting into my first ranger

I agree with Chevy_Country. 2002 or newer, v6 is preferred for the power and gas mileage.

My truck is an 09 model, 2.3 four banger with manual tranny. Gas mileage is terrible, but for my use, it...

Re: Parked Next to New Ranger XLT

A diesel would be a neat option, however without a usable bed, why bother? If one is interested in an open bed SUV, then this is the ticket.

Re: impact gun for suspension work

turismolover22, yes that is the one. 1400 inch pounds of torque. Doesn't equate to much in pound feet. I really like the idea of soaking things for long periods of time, and have a can of Fluid Film...

Re: impact gun for suspension work

Barneycat11, is the Milwaukee 2767-20 is not the same as the impact driver one sees at Home Depot. Does it need to come from a Milwaukee tool dealer that is not a big box store?

Re: impact gun for suspension work

I do have oxy and can heat as well as cut. Just want to know what others are using out there.

impact gun for suspension work

Just picked up a 1988 model with rusted on suspension bolts and nuts. Need recommendation for torque rating for an impact gun needed to remove these fasteners. They are rusted real bad.

Re: Parked Next to New Ranger XLT

:they should have purchase an SUV."

This is the thought that filled my head as I left the parking lot. The bed is useless and the vehicle reminds me of an SUV with the rear roof section hacked...

Parked Next to New Ranger XLT

Saw in person for the first time a new Ranger. XLT model. Parked right next to it and it seems to be the same size as the older F150 2wd model. No bed in the back worth having, and it was a four...

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?

Been 2 years since buying my Ranger with 166,500 miles on it and it now has 167850 miles on it. Estimated as the odemeter no longer works, but the trip meter is still operational. So far this year I...

Re: Payload 2009 Ranger

Makes sense. Perhaps dry top soil is 500 per half yard. Wet top soil, which it was, will be heavier. Add my fat butt and you have an overload system.

Payload 2009 Ranger

Payload rating is 1200 pounds. 1/2 yard top soil is 500 pounds. With 1/2 yard topsoil the springs are mostly compressed and seems like it cannot take any more weight.

Exactly what is payload...

Re: Do you think this is a fair price?

December 2018 I picked up a 2009 Ranger work truck, standard cab, manual tranny for 3400. Tires had 15k on them, new clutch, etc. Exact same radio as what is shown in the pictures of that truck. It...

Re: Cross Rotation Tires

"If one side is wearing worse than the other side then cross rotate them"

So this is the reason for cross rotation? Uneven tire wear? Otherwise no point to it? Makes sense to me. Honestly, I...

Cross Rotation Tires

I have never cross rotated tires on any of my vehicles be they FWD or RWD.

What is the point of cross rotation? What problem does it solve or prevent?

Hmm, seems it is a mystery. Will see what I can find out from an engine builder and let ya'll know what I learn.

Re: Using too high of a gear

I need to clarify. I know what lugging an engine is. What is the source of the vibration? Starvation of lube oil to the tranny gears? Pistons? Where does the vibration come from?

Using too high of a gear

Why does the truck growel and shudder when using a gear too high for the rpm of the engine? What is happening when it does this?
