Re: Very Bad Bucking V6!

I had a very similar problem. It was the Camshaft Synchronizer. I don't know if there is a way to test it without having some type of storage oscilloscope.

Re: transmission fluid change

When I got my Ranger it had 150k miles on it. The trans fluid did not look good so I dropped the pan, changed the filter and refilled. After another 6k miles I sucked 2+ quarts out of the dip stick...

Re: Only Two Wires on Third Brake Light/Cargo Light Harness

All of the brake light kits I have seen come with 3 wire. 1 wire is ground. 1 wire is for the brake (Red) light. 1 wire is for bed (clear) light. You can chose to only wire the red backup light...

Re: 2019 ranger pricing finalized info inside.p

It's debatable if regular cabs would sell or not but you will never see them made again thanks to our government. Basically the 2012 government regulation say that size/mpg combination will not be...

Re: PCV valve hose

what I did was to leave the existing plastic piece in the intake and attach the new PCV and boot to that. So cut the zip tie and then you can separate the two. Zip tie back together.

Re: "map" light replacement inquiry

I also replaced with a 94-04 Mustang light fixture. It's just a better light. It has 2 map lights and the center light.

Re: Transmission or torque converter?

Dr. Tranny Instant Shudder Fixx
I generally do not like additives but this did fix my shudder.

Re: 02 Ford Ranger Transmission Help

I had a problem that sounds very similar. Not knowing exactly what the cause was I tried a few things and it is fixed.
I dropped the trans pan and replace the filter and filled with genuine...

Re: Oil filter change on 3.0 V6

I find changing the oil filter quite easy. I get at it from the top where I think there is plenty of room. Then there is that plastic/rubber funnel looking thing that catches all the oil from the...

Re: Hub replacement

You should be fine. The first time I changed hubs was on my '02 4x4 Ranger. It was fairly easy. The size of your socket/wrench might make a difference. It's really tight to get them in their on...

Re: Could someone help identify this oil leak?

I'm just going to leave it that way for now. It will be too expensive to have a mechanic do what is needed to get at it.

Re: 2011 Ford Ranger 4.0...Power steering fluid Question...

I did the same exact thing and added some regular PS fluid. I ran it like that for 6 months and then, like you, I found out it should be Mercon V. After reading some things I didn't take the chance...

Re: Could someone help identify this oil leak?

I have the same problem. It's a failed differential gasket. smell the oil. gear oil usually has a particular smell. There is no way to easily change the gasket here though. Some major things...

Re: Bad bearings?

From my limited experience with bad wheel bearing that doesn't sound like your problem. When I had bad wheel bearings it made the noise at all speeds and it sounds like running snow tires on hard...

Re: Wheel bolt pattern size question

Bolt pattern or bolt circle is the diameter of an imaginary circle formed by the centers of the wheel lugs. Bolt patterns can be 4-, 5-, 6-, or 8-lug holes. A bolt circle of 5x114.3 would indicate a...

Re: Front and rear differential oil change

I did all this on my '02 Edge 3.0. From the manual I have-
Front: 80W90
Rear: 80W90
supposed to add some friction modifier but I did not bother with that.

Re: common for wheel leak?

Thanks. I didn't even think about the valves.

BTW I also have a Xterra Pro 4X. I'm using the Ranger to keep the miles off it. I want to keep that vehicle for a long time. They don't make...

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger

Based on this thread I picked up some '87 Thunderbird Turbo Coup seats. They are NOT direct bolt-in. I had to grind out all the rivets in the seat brackets and take them apart so that I just had...

Re: Advice for a cargo light?

Take off your 3rd brake light and check the wiring first.
I have an '02 Edge. There is only wiring for the brake light up there. On each side it's just dead space. No sockets, no wiring.
