Re: MAP sensor existence?
Well, it sounds better idling with a clean IAC, but as soon as you rev the engine it billows out smoke and then acts like it wants to die. I dunno what else it could be. Guess I'll try a new MAF.

Re: MAP sensor existence?
Oh, I've also noticed while pricing MAP sensors (euuuuughhhh) that I keep getting results for a little round one that resembles an ECT sensor, but has a slightly different plug. It's located on the...

MAP sensor existence?
This is a '91 2.3L EFI Ranger S 2WD made in 06/91.
I haven't been able to find mine. The access port into the plenum where everyone says it should be is empty, so is the access port in the middle...

Re: Sucking oil into the PCV valve and it ends up in throttle body?
Well, aside from the trip to the mechanic! Sounds like you got off easy! I replaced my valve twice, but it didn't change anything.
I think my oil trap was clogged, because Seafoam stopped it. It's...

Re: Sucking oil into the PCV valve and it ends up in throttle body?
Well, oddly enough, it hasn't eaten any oil since my last post and the throttle body is dry as a bone inside! I've driven about 200 miles since then. Most likely this is just a temporary fix, but the...

Re: Reference of charcoal cannister line needed!
Well, I ended up tearing the throttle body back off, as well as the fuel rail, and all the electrical connections in the area. Up underneath the intake manifold port for the PCV valve was another...

Reference of charcoal cannister line needed!
This is on an EFI, 2.3L, 1991.
So on the driver side, down between the radiator and the fender cowl is a charcoal cannister. One side is a line from the fuel tank. The other side has pre-formed...

Re: Sucking oil into the PCV valve and it ends up in throttle body?
Well, on my truck there's this weird black radiator-looking deal that has a tube that connects to the PCV valve. And I think that's the culprit. I dumped a thing of Seafoam down there and let it sit...

Re: Sucking oil into the PCV valve and it ends up in throttle body?
Well, first off thanks for the awesome post, FireRanger. That cleared a lot of how it works up for me. I knew the general basics: that air went in one side, fumes came out the other. But my Hayne's...

Re: Sucking oil into the PCV valve and it ends up in throttle body?
Oh, I've replaced the PCV Valve and lines twice now just to be sure. I even tried a valve from a more vacuum-heavy truck.
I found another line that looks like it needs a check valve, and it...

Sucking oil into the PCV valve and it ends up in throttle body?
Got a '91, 2.3 SOHC, EFI, 2WD, Manual. No A/C.
I have this really weird problem, like the title states.
My thottle body is always full of oil, fresh oil, and over time it will completely clog up...

I calculated mine. I seem to average about 24 and 2/3rds. I live in the country, though, and putt-putt around most of the back roads at about 53-54 MPH. You do have to slow down for 90 degree...

I assume the lack of...

Re: 98 2.5 missing and then it doesn't
If the EGR thing doesn't pan out (indeed, those are nothing but a headache, and you can get plates to cover up where they went), you could test the ICM (ignition control module— when those go stupid...

Re: Knocking, banging, clicking in low RPMs and on hills (My solution)
So...months later. Still dealing with this problem. It's gotten pretty bad, and my truck just doesn't like to go up hills or past 60. I did a compression check, #4 is 145, #3 is 150, #2 is 160 and #1...

Re: CB won't even pick up static, transmits at half power.
Finally figured it out. There was a rubber bushing where my coax connects to my antenna, to give the antenna some play. I had it on the bottom of the mount. It goes on the top with the antenna poking...

Re: CB won't even pick up static, transmits at half power.
I do have a bolt-on underhood antenna mount. I thought that was the best way to go. Everyone's always trying to sell you magnetics, but I go in the brush enough I didn't want to worry about taking it...

I mean the TX line when you key the mic. It looks like this: http://www.midlandradio.com/Resource_/Product/941/Detail/LargeImage/1001Z_Lg.jpg

I honestly can't read the diagrams in the Hayne's Book. Chilton's is far superior, but they aren't for sale around here anymore.

CB won't even pick up static, transmits at half power.
So, I went to go through a car wash and I took my CB antennae off. The CB was off at the time, but the engine was running. I forgot to turn it off as I went through the wash and put my antennae on...
